Ignition timing?
I just finished installing a full Akrapovic, BMC filters, a power commander PC111R, adjustable lowering links from Spencer, and removed the Kleen air system and installed block off plates on my 2002 ZX12R. I down loaded the full Akrapovic and after market air map on the PC111R. I printed the fuel and timing grid, and it just showed all 0's for the timing. The bike definitely runs better than with the stock map it comes with, but I am sure there is plenty of room for improvement. I have an appointment for a complete dyno tune on 4/28/04, with Rick Stetson of Northboro MA. He is very experienced with Suzuki, and did my Hayabusa, which worked out great. He is limited with ZX12,s. I was wondering the range of timing you guys are coming up with on your 12's to get the maximum performance?
I was pleasantly surprised on the handling of the bike when I lowerd the rear about 3/4 of an inch. I lowered the back because I am 5 9 and could only touch my toes sitting on the bike, and the rear end just felt to jacked up. I was planing on lowering the front as well, but ran out of time when I did all the other mods last Saturday. The bike feels so much better, more neutral, the steering doesn't seem to be slower, and the seating is much more comfortable, and I don't feel like I am always slidding into the tank anymore. Does any have any input on lowering the front? It feels good to me now, and I rather not spend the time experimenting dropping the fork tubes if I don't have to.
Thanks for yor help.

I have seen several maps recently with the timing set to 5 degrees anywhere above 500 rpm. This gives the advantage of decent starting without kickback from too much advance, however there are lots of guys running the ignition rotor advancer, and leave them locked at 5 degreee advance......and they seem to do fine.

I use a mechanical advance on mine set at about 4.5 degreees, as long as you dont give it any gas on startup is starts fine everytime, even when hot.
Now if ya give the throttle a twist, you can give it up, it iwll barley roll over....but runs GREAT after its running.
