How long do you keep your bike?
I was just wondering how long everyone keeps their bikes befor trading in or selling and getting a new one?The money we spend on seats,pipes,clutch baskets,dyno time not to mention how much it cost for a piston or stroker kit installation all adds up.So when would do you upgrade?

When a better package comes along.
Id love to ride an 04 and move all my 02s upgrades right onto it.

OK -well I sold ONE bike - my old zx-11. I'm not sure why, I had the bike from '93 to 2000... but I wanted the '12 soooo bad and those two bike were similar in purpose.

I am on my third motorcycle, and I regret ever selling off my first one. No matter though, I purchased my 02 12 with less than a mile on it brand new, and I said I would NEVER get rid of it, no matter what.
I plan on keeping my 12. All the money dumped into it, all the countless hours as well (gotta say thanks to Dino)...all the accessories, I will always keep it.
I would rather get a 2nd bike and keep my 12. As it stands, I still want a new 10R and another 600 to make nothing but a track bike.

Bought my ZX-10 in 88 and sold it in 02, when I bought the 12. I tend to hang on the things.

about 5 years between purchases...
...always have at least 2 bikes in the garage...(for when modding one, ride the other....)

I keep mine for usually 4 or 5 years, or until one that "I HAVE TO HAVE " comes out......which ever comes first....

Bought my 97 S-3 Thunderbolt brand new as soon as I got rid of my 750 Turbo and said that will never happen again. Still got it. In 01 I bought my 12 and I will build a bigger shop from here on out. Next will be a 10 hopefully in 05. None for sale!

Last four bikes were 6, 3 and 4 years. Not counting the '90 KDX that I still have (it's paid for).

or until I total one out.....lol Which has happened to the last 2 bikes I have had.....hit a deer on 1 and was hit by a truck on the other....
