best brake pads??

what are the best brake pads? what is everyone using?

i had the 15k service done today with my mileage eclipsing 17k, and the bike is dialed in perfectly...new sparkplugs and air filters do wonders to throttle response.

but yeah, new front brakes are going to be needed...i think dino had ebc and highly recommended them...

yep yep and is it best to replace the rear when u do the front?

Beans,
They're on the Muzzy site. They got there because we used them on the road racers. (Performance Friction also provides a large percentage of pads for Nextel (Winston) cup and CART) I decided to get some and try them on my car, loved them, got a set for my 12 and found them to be really superior for the variety of reasons listed.

i was doin some more research into it...

looks like ebc has the carbon ones that muzzys does, but they are for moto-x and atv use only, nothin street...

read about the muzzys, and i like what i saw. ill prolly go that route, looks like the 2 pads from muzzys is just a lil over 80 bucks...

besides, ive had good experiences with all the muzzy products ive ordered so far...

ok a friend who use to use the carbon metallic brake pads said that he had problems with the carbon fiber flaking off, and it gets flung up onto your paint and doesnt do good things...

is this true?

I can see putting Carbon metallic pads on a race bike, or even some of the other exotic material pads. But for most people the HH pads from EBC , Ferodo, or one of the other manufacterers, should be more than enough. And cheaper as well...Now if you are a hardcore twistie guy, you may want to up grade. Hell I am still running stock lines and stock pads on the 12 after 17,000 miles.....But it is time to upgrade to stainless lines and HH pads.....

Like HDL...I just surpassed 17k on my 12, all the time everything has been stock in the brake category (and the bike for that matter)...I am now forced to upgrade cause the 15k service alerted me to it...

I have the floating rotors on my racing bike. They didn't float much, and they became ridig really quick.

Read the description. The ones manufacturered by Performance Friction are different (I do not think any other motorcycle pad is formulated the same). They are made specifically for stainless rotors and don't screw up your stock rotors. I get some dust like with any race pad but nothing offensive. Look, this is not some big money maker, I just really wanted to make them available to you guys.

Straight from the Muzzys website....

CARBON METALLIC BRAKE PADS!

MUZZYS announces the availability of Carbon Metallic brake pads by Performance Friction. Performance Friction is a major supplier of pads for professional racing worldwide, including CART, Winston Cup, Endurance Sports Cars, World Superbike and Moto GP. We've tested these pads and are impressed with the stopping, feel and life. The #95 compound is designed specifically for the stainless rotors on our bikes and provides a manageable initial bite with a rising torque curve. Finesse is required though, you can over slow in a hurry if you're not careful. Other advantages are a firm feel, quick release, good control for trail braking and good modulation for mid corner braking. Discs develop a polished finish without scoring and "bed in" is almost immediate. Some noise is created on drilled or slotted rotors, solid rotors are silent. These brakes are the first we've seen that are truly up to the task on a ZX-12R. Pads available for all popular makes and models.
