Finally Ordered some Pistons

Between everything I could find out and some real help from friends, I ordered a set of Pistons (We will see if I learned anything when I Hit them with a 150 shot of NOS ) from John Noonan at "JE". I just do not have the time and money to bring someone else up to speed (Arias) and with only dished turbo Pistons from MTC (Compression was just a little bit lower than I wanted to start out with)I ended up at JE. We will now see what we will see!

The Pistons should be here toward the end of April. I just got the new Stator assembly from Kawasaki and will be changine rear sub frames and setting the bike up for street to break in the engine when assembled.

When the bike is ready for "Street" Riding, I plan to do a "Major Burn Out" to finish off what is left of the rear tire and then change to a spare rear tire. At that time, I will do an oil change to ND 30 weight oil (SA Rated) to clean out the Motul and remove the engine. I expect to have this done in 3 weeks. On week #4, or when the pistons arrive, I will then check the valve clearance and dissamble the engine. It will be re-assembled with APE Studs, Ti Valve Spring Retainers and Race Valve Springs with Cometic Spacer and Head Gasket. I also plan to notch the bottom of 1-2 and 3-4 cylinders to lower pumping losses.

When assembled, Back into the bike with a shorter chain and 19 / 44 gearing and some serious break in of the pistons and rings. (I will change to a regular 10 w 40 cheap Motorcycle Oil after about 250 miles on the ND 30 Oil.

My Last 3 purchases are 2 - 5 pound NOS Bottles, A Heating Blanket and "YES" a progressive controller (Even I do not think I could deal with a 150 Hit of NOS!) Right now, I have 3 Muzzy and 3 Schnitz springs in the clutch. For Maxton, I plan to us all 6 Schnitz springs. Provided the Poor House does not grab me and nothing big in Toledo "BAD" happens, I plan to run the May date at Maxton! If the one house in the estate gets sold, then for sure the May Maxton. I do not plan to go there 90% or even 99% ready, it will be 100% or not at all. "Project 220 will not leave our door until tested and ready to WAB (Whip A Busa)"

hey vince. a&j performance is working on a nitrous controller that is sweat. it is a plug and play setup per bike. they are a little slow with the zx-12 stuff, so thats why i wounder if you would like one. the controller works off of whatever throttle position, whatever gear position, and whatever progression rate by gear and or by time you choose. i think maybe in 10 % increments, im not sure. it also has control over the fuel injectors this is great for the dry shot setup. so you can tune for as much hp as you fuel setup can deliver. sortof like the fi box that mps has. but in your case there are some features for you that the other controllers dont have. they been doing the busa thing for a while. they are working on the zx-10 also. another thing i am going to do is intall alean nitrous cutoff switch in order to save the motor from melt down. that is very very important for top end nitrous cause at top speed with the amont of ram air it only takes secounds to melt down if any little something goes wrong it does happen a lot. the cutoff switch is a dynotune.org piece and the # is (508) 752- 5557. a-jperformance.com (908) 289-2000 is the controller guys. pushum for me vince. thanks

I like the "Idea" of that style of controller, but how can it sense a "Lean" Condition? I have an Exhaust Gas Sensor in the #3 Cylinder exhaust pipe which I watch on the run, is it something like that?

Also, Even though Arias may make a better quality of piston, I need known quality and advice of what I will be using. I totally operate under the "KISS" Principal. (Keep It Simple Stupid). I spend most of my time just finding out what everyone has used and what problems they have had. (In other words, I know nothing about this unit. Anyone using it even on a busa? What do they say about it? What kind of problems have they had? This is they type of stuff I check into.) Remember, I may be Poor, but when it comes to what I ride at over 200 plus, I will spend what I need to even though it will delay the project. The worst part is, being as old as I am, I still am not paitent and cannot wait to get things done, but have learned to wait until it is correct!

The latest thing is the actual hole in the fuel and NOS jets. I hve found that they are all not perfect in size and if one is even slightly larger, that will cause 1 lean cylinder (AKA Piston Ash Tray). I am taking none of this lightly!

To Paraphrase what I said in that article, "I have the rest of my life to get this done"!

hey vince the lean sensor is a piece by dynotune it has to have a sensor installed in the exhaust pipe. it is not part of the controller. it wires in with the nitrous sel. it turns it off if the condition is dangerous. simple . they have the sensor alone or you can add their meter to see your fuel ratio at all times. this is a cheap insurance for what a lean 3 secound top end run could cost. yes vincent i know a guy whoes running it on a busa locolaly he is the only busa in this area that has beaten me. the principal is not difficult they just need to doit. the gear selection and the throttle position is important to non wheely bar bikes. it also has the feature of a pushbutton switch (horn) that will overide the other functions if needed. i know you could use this vince. check into this like you do. thanks man

I already have an EGT Sensor in the exhaust pipe that I keep an eye on during the run. Problem with a wired in sensor is the parameters. One race I lost was because a rev limiter went bad and turned the engine off. I prefer the Human element making the decisions some times

EBD, Remember, My step son works for a large dealer and I get his price which is their price so I do not know what your price would be exactly. I know someone that bought direct and paid about $680.

Pistons = Pistons, Rings, Tool Steel Wrist pins, and Circlips. I plan to use a Cometic Base spacer and head gasket.
