Engine work: Decking the block & milling heads
.....just got back from the shop doing my engine.
As I recall, it was mentioned that they took either .005 or .05 off the cylinder and head, can't recall which. (Ok, so I've never had to do any machine work in my life!!)
So, when one of you smart guys gets into this thread, steer me straight on which it was most likely to be!
Then, I'm curious as to how this will affect my static CR.
My *GUESS* is that it's .005 and that having that off the head and cylinder would give me .010. Same as the base gasket, right?!!
If that's really what they did, then I guess I don't wanna be touching my base gasket after all!
PS. It's a 1290 kit....

Just make sure nothing hits when you turn the engine by hand.
Did you get the adjustable cam sprockets?

Sounds like you're on the right track. Lee turned the domes down a little on a 1290 he did for a friend. In other words, don't leave the base gasket out!
