DGVII Dates.......

Ok, we need to finalize this (once again) so everyone can make the necessary arrangements.

After reviewing this thread, along with my calendar, it appears that we have already had a date set for quite some time.
http://www.bikeland.org/board/viewthread.php?FID=1&TID=10102

History tells us that date changing is a bad idea because people get left out in the cold so to speak. I say we go with the original dates. I'm sure some of the guys have already scheduled time off from work for those dates etc.

To quote my beloved grandpa,(RIP) "We need to pick a row and hoe it".

I hope this doesn't piss anyone off because in all honesty that is what I want to avoid. In the past we let a knee-jerk decision mess up some other people's plans. That wasn't our intentions and quite frankly if we'd have put a little more thought into it things would have been different. (no offense to the dumb bastard in Detroit ) The dates were supposedly established back in January and I say we stick to them.

OK how many people have already taking the time off from their jobs?????

I am just fixing to submit my leave now...just wondering, if its gonna srew someone up then we need to keep the dates the same as in the above thread, but if noone has put in vacation yet...I dont see the harm in it....if the dates stay as in the above thread that is gonna count me and Harry and Red out, right from the start....who else is it going to effect???

I understand what you are saying perfectly Rick, and I agree that if its gonna screw someone up then it needs to stay the same as it is, but if not.....

HDL,
To me that's the whole point, not messing anyone's plans up. We fucked up and did that once and I won't partake in it anymore. That is, unless all parties are happy with the end result.

sherm...

I'm cool with it as long as everybody else is. Lucky suggested a vote may be in order. That's not a bad idea coming from a slow-ass hillbilly fucker eh? I am cool with any date as long as we don't fuck anyone's vacation time up. You know the drill sherm.

Anyone else care to chime in? Maybe the first question should have been who plans on attending the rally?

I am only here for a minute, just checked in. Emma is in the hospital, has been for the last four days, she has a nasty virus that won't leave. Chances are very good I will be able to make DGVII. It doesn't matter to me what dates you pick. I'll let you fellas know what happens with Emma in a day or two.

Ok.....

It looks as if you guys are flexible to the point that May 8-15 would work.

Someone with far more wisdom than me suggested that we need to ask MadMike, Outlaw1 and Ninja Dude Rob about the date change. The reason for this is that we think they have already centered their plans around the 15th - 23rd.

Comments?
Suggestions?

Wishing the best for emma , chris.

I have to be in orlando on the 13th of may. We can do it the week before or the week after. I'm flexible.

I loaned MadMike a stock swingarm to put on his bike so he doesn't have to wrestle his "drag racing barge" around the corners!

I have it on the books to take off 14-22 may, but i can change if needed.

Why doesn't HDL do yet another Poll? :

I'm wif da Elk. He knows the race schedule and will have thought out in much more detail than I for feasability of dates.

Ta!

But I feel like right now I'm in. Unless I break my other collarbone. :

I think.....

So is it safe to say that the original dates are out the window at this point?

I'm totally cool with the 8th -15th, hell I may not even make it. But I need some dates to shoot for, just like everyone else.

Some info to share

I've sent Madmike, Outlaw1 and Ninja Dude1 an email asking them if May 8th through 15th would work for them. Hopefully they'll respond here soon.

As for lodging info in Townsend, this is what has been gathered previously.

There are cabins where the smackhouse is. The kicker is it is a three night minimum stay and you have to pay 1/2 in advance (within 7 to 10 days of your reservation) and the rest when you get there. Prices range from 70 to 90 dollars plus $ 10 for each additional person above two. Their number is 865-448-6016. They do have a web site but you'll have to call them for the address. The address is...
221 Old Bridge Road
Townsend, TN 37882

Townsend and the cabins is a good place to gather, especially for the socializing aspect as well as the starting point for exploring all the roads in the area. The cabins are off the main road and there is camping there as well. Near by is plenty of gas stations, grocery stores, restuarants, tourist traps, and a very nice Best Western (within 2 miles) that is $45 through the week and $ 60 on the weekends. There are 138 rooms in that hotel so that should take care of the concerns we have for people needing to wait til the last minute to see if they can come. The info for Best Western in Townsend TN and the phone number is 1-800-528-1234.

The goal right now is for every one who is interested in coming down to meet up with each other to start making plans given the dates that have been set. By having a discussion on this forum, we can see how many are coming, when they are coming, if any one wants to get a cabin together, and make arrangements. Any newbie that comes will be well taken care of when it comes to getting around and smothered with brotherly love. As the numbers who will attend start to grow, we will all look at what needs to become more structured to ensure that things run smoothly. Us locals, as well as the smackhouse gang will do that for sure.

So, who is thinking about coming? Looking forward to seeing all the old and the new! Lucky12 and Melissa

Cabins.......

Just a notice to everyone considering a cabin. There are rental cabins at 2 different locations. I used to have a map with all the cabin numbers at each location. If everyone wants to be "neighbors" we need to make sure we all get cabins at the same site. I'll look and see if I've still got a map @ home.

I for one don't want to exit a "Smackhouse" party and do any driving whatsoever. Walking much more than 50' will be a feat which requires intense concentration.

OK, Emma is home now, still not 100% cause the symptoms of this RSV virus can last up to a month. It was scary stuff to say the least, she was having a very difficult time breathing as her pulse ox was only 80%. After being in an oxygen tent for 3 days and breathing treatments every 3 hours she started to get better. Of course there is no cure or medicine for virus', her own immune system has to beat this and only being 1 month old that is not easy. I'll tell you one thing, you think you're not a crier? Try seeing your infant daughter with IV's and all kinds of wires hanging off her. Broke down like a baby myself. Scary scary stuff. At any rate, the next couple weeks will be difficult until all the snot and mucus clear up and she is able to breath normally again, but at least she's home. Note: Try to avoid eating hospital food for any more than a day at a time, it'll kill ya.

Now on to DGVII, I don't care if it's the 8th or the 15th, just let me know. Michelle has pretty much said GO, so I'm in. Rick you better make it man, It may be the last chance we get to hang with Harry for a while cause he's going to Wales.

Whew.....

Glad to hear that Emma is home Chris. Having seen what some of my other friends went through when their daughter had RSV, I know you guys have been scared to death. I feel for the little booger and hope she is 100% soon.

Now, about the Gap trip. I am going to do everything in my power to make it. I always have made it in the past, and hope that is a trend that continues. That is the best I can give you guys at this point. You know I will give it 110%, that goes without saying. As far as seeing Harry goes, fuck that washed up "Sailor Servicing" BIATCH!!!! I wouldn't pay a nickle to see that MF swallow a bail of hay.
