Can't make it Harry, I'll still be doing my thing here. Hopefully I'll be back on track for a fall trip.

There's a story on the Gap in the current issue of "Super Streetbike" (a Motorcyclist/Sport Rider Special). It's more of a stunters' book, but it gave me a better idea of what/where you guys ride. Looks fun!

So I guess the dates "set" in this previous thread are to be ignored?

http://www.bikeland.org/board/viewthread.php?FID=1&TID=10102

quote:
Geez... here's a stretch. How about the following?

DG VII - May 15 (Sat.) - 23 (Sun.)
DG VIII - Sept. 18 (Sat.) - 26 (Sun.)

In other words, it's basically the same dates as the others. Usually the third week of May and Sept. Unless Chris has other plans, of course. Actually, it won't matter to me about DG VIII's dates. Like DG V, I'll have to miss that one due to work ("political season").

I was going to have to skip DG VII because of our road racing team's schedule sucking up all my vaction time, but the company has found it in their heart to give me an additional week of vacation time. Specifically to make at least one DG event a year. At least while I part of the team.

Don't know if I'll make either DG VIII or DG IX this year.

Even if I can make it to DG VII, I won't be able to stay for the whole week. No matter what week it is in May. Our team has races on May 1/2 and May 21/23. Also the team's custom built (and air conditioned) 24' race trailer is going to be ready for me to pick up in Indiana sometime early in May. Have no firm date on it's completion yet.

Because of "political season" at work and "race season" with the team, DG VIII is completely out of the question.

dam Sherm...looks like the 8-10th would be good for you, no races and you can pick your trailer up at the same time....hmmmmm

I dont expect you all to change dates just for me, and Harry, but it would be nice, that will be the only way I will get to go, and Harry too it seems....

Keep in mind, this is hardly "My Show" and ya'll can set any date ya'll want. Since no date is set in stone at this time, it seems that May 8-15 might work best for most of ya'll. Ya'll just say when and I'll do my best to be there.

I did chuckle over the fact that the guys on Dale's forum selected May 23-30. With Memorial Day on May 31, it'd seem to me that one would not want to plan any kind of riding event on the prior week at a place where the tourists will be flocking to. Not to mention the number of locals and their children that will be in the area. Least we forget the possible increase in law enforcement patrolling. Oh well. What ever works for them.

there is no way I would ride deals on a holiday weekend, I made that mistake once....there were so many people up there that all you could do is put through it....screw that....

Well I will be going through Townsend on my way to Bike week in Myrtle Beach, I hope some of you all show up, I am going to leave here Friday the 8th, and will be there over that weekend....between Work and Bike week those are the only options i have....

HDL, isn't the 8th on a Saturday? I surely hope so. That the date my daughter is getting married (forgot to mention that one).

DB, you'll have yours by then and still have plenty of time to break it in before you go to the Gap. The only worry you'll have is keepin' those other hooligans from sitting on it and looking for your keys while your asleep (mine would be locked up in the trailer).
