depends on what you do with your bike, if you live in the twisties or are gonna use it on a roadcourse then yeah Iwould trade....if you do a lot of touring or highway riding then there is now way I would trade....Fortunately for me I have a 600 for the track and the mountains, and my 12 for everything else....I will never sell the 12, unless its to buy a new better faster 12.....hehehe

now that the 10R's coming out, the price on the 12R is dropping fast. Dealer will only give me 5K on the 00' 12r on a trade in, & I can't seem to sell it; guess I'll have to keep it!
I love the bike, but I want a 10R....cant' swing the $$$ tho....sniff.

I think that depends on the drag strip rider's skill. If you ran a 9.82 stock, then you are pretty good, I'd say! Chip Ellis ran a 9.32 with a piped preproduction 10R...Who knows?
And HDL, gotta agree with you, mon. I'm keeping my ZZR1200 for the streets, and the 10R will be my track bike.

not a chance in hell (as nice as the little 10R seems to be).
Railing on the street (10's forte) is something I gave up years ago; folks who regularly do that ALWAYS go down sooner or later, and I have been down too many times in the way-back years from street railing.
I have taken my addiction for adrenaline/dopamine/endorphins to the drag track and a littler bike is going in the wrong direction. I want a ZX18, not a ZX10.
The 10 is for folks who aren't pussies (like I am).

Entropy - Good points. But I hate to think of someone really trying to extract what the 10R can do when they are on the street... Hopefully, folks will take it to the track and have good safe fun with it.

I was thinking about. It's so tempting, but I got to keep my eyes on the prize. I've been saving for a Z350 Track. It looks like I'll be able to get next January. Can't do both the bike and the car though ____________

Nope.
I was so on fire about the 10R that I almost completely turned a cold shoulder to Lil' Red. Even though I was never gonna trade or sale Lil' Red, she was about to become second choice. Not anymore, times are changin'. Even though I know the 10 is far superior in most aspects that are important in what I want a bike to offer, I'm gonna pass for now.
I stay in enough trouble on my 12R, the 10R is gonna make me wanna take things to the next level. I need to tone down as it is now and get my kicks on the track. With my annual ticket cost, and rising insurance rates I actually consider myself lucky to have a bike at all. Much less a spotless example of a Red '00 12R with some nice mods. Oh yeah and my cool new WR450F which I've been having a BLAST with.
With all that said, I'd like to add that I'm really looking forward to riding season. It's coming, and fast. Lil' Red is in a gazillion pieces getting some TLC. My RH fork is @ CTR in Knoxville undergoing surgery. New rear tire and brake pads have been installed, front tire should be here in a few days. Doing some cleaning on her while all the plastic is off, etc. The ol' bike still looks great and only has 14K on the clock, I can't replace her just yet. ____________

trade ny 12 for the 10! NO WAY! I really love the weight and stability of the 12 at high speeds on the street. I rode my brothers gsxr1k and that was so little and light I couldn't stand it. the 10 is suppose to be lighter and smaller. it just wouldn't be riding to me on it.

You'd be suprised at how stable the 10 is...I was, and I rode it in some of the worst weather I had ever been in on a motorcycle. That being said, my ZZR is definately my choice for any extended street riding. All the power you need and 45 mpg. 6.5 gallon tank. Just ride it.

Trade my 212rwhp 1361 for the zx10? Probably not, although I spent alot of time this weekend drewling over the green 10 @ Cyclebarn. However, if I was starting from scratch, and had to choose between a new 12 or the 10, the 10 would be an easy choice....

No. I love my 12 and while I really really want to ride a 10R, I would never replace the 12. I think if I decide to hit the track this year, I'll buy one so I can use it there, but not as a replacement. Plus with my being 6'4" I think I'll look pretty damn funny on that little bike. ____________
