Back from Daytona Pictures!
TB, Sorry I missed your PM because I could have called. The Weather was the Best I have seen in years, The Coldest day was in the High 70's and the Hottest was in the high 80's. AT night it was in the mid 60's and NARY A DROP OF RAIN! Finally (You know I always seem to bring something up and maybe because the Lady Mayor is now Black!)The People at "Black Bike Week" finally got an "Official" Daytona Beach Welcome Bikers on Second Street (Now name Dr. Mary Bethune ?Cookman? Street)Nothing like being at the Corner of Dr. MLK & Dr. MSB streets  I also mention this because The Bike Magazines have even done a few articles on "Black Bike Week" and it was also on the Discovery Channel. To the uninformed, the reason for this seperate Bike week is "Back in the Day", we were not allowed on Main Street and if we did go, we could expect to be ticketed or arrested for just being there. The funny thing is now there are about as many white people cruising and walking the side walks there as are Blacks on Main street! Even better are the prices because I got great shirts for $10 and some for $5 and serious hats for $10 as opposed to my Orange County Choppers Tee Shirts that were signed by Big and Little Paul!
Last, it was great to ride the 250 Ninja. It never got to the middle of the temp zone and had great traction on the beach plus could run 80 to 85 up and down the interstate riding doubble!! At the race, I did not get my usual space at the international Hairpin, but was parked at the left bend. I watched the ZX10 give up the Ghost and do not like the smaller field of 37 riders as opposed to the original 80! The fact that Rick Shaw was not allowed to ride after qualifying at 1.57 and the fact that "A Slower Rider" took out Aaron Yates just shows that some things cannot be eliminated! To me, if only the fastest riders were allowed to race, then no one would show up to see 3 to 6 people race! It would be boring as Hell! I enjoyed the little races between the different people and this was not there! Even a 115% rule would be "OK", but when e-Boz turned a 1.46 where the others were in the 1.49, that removed about 20 people right there! AT least take the Average of the front row as opposed to a 1 lap special! During the race, NO ONE Turned a lap faster that 1.49 and that was rare!

vince i was there . do you know what happened to the zx 10 it went out early. it seamed to have a broken chain and then found damage after that. help me out.

Glad you had a good time Mr. Hill. You are right the weather was the best it's ever been. No offense intended but the "Back in the Day" things are long past now. Everywhere seems to be a good mix with the exception of the MLK neighborhood. If fact it seems like things now are turned to opposite direction now with BBW and BCR being generally a black only thing. Can't we all just get along .
A little background information about Daytona's political climate if I may. Personally I could care less about the person who was in charge's race or gender if they do a good job for the city and focus in the interests of the community. This still has yet to happen. The idiot that was there before certainly did a great job of continuing the downward financial and community spirit run and from the stuff that went on with the last election. The city is broke and is cutting services and constantly losing money and there is no reason for it other than mismanagement. Did you know Bike Week alone brought $800,000 dollars into Volusia county this year but the city of Daytona Beach loses huge amounts of money during the that event (and the NASCAR ones as well) because of the deals the politicians have made with the big money players in this town ?
Daytona's new mayor was elected though the power of the France family. Why ? Well the Speedway Corp will be under serious negotiations and/or legal battles soon trying to renew it's sweet deal with the city and county for the property the speedway is on and the deal was struck for ISC support before the election so the big weight was thrown that way and it worked.
Why is this such a big deal ? Did you know all that property the speedway is on is actually owned by Volusia county ? Currently no taxes are paid on it and ISC leases it for 10K a year and get's all the police and service support it needs from the city for no charge. France Sr. was a master of the deal and if looks like family tradition lives on. I hate stupid politics but I know you live in the mecca for all of it. Sorry for the rant.
I wish I could have gotten out more this year and seen it all. You know me, I get along with everyone ! :d :d

WOW!! Sounds like DC where the people in government make deals to "Rent" mobile trailers for the Homeless for 20K a year for 3 years as opposed to buying them for 35K apiece! They lease a building for 10 years for 100 Mill a year where they could buy it for 500 mill. No Public parking garages because of the deals with the Developers!
Just no way Daytona should lose money during either event! If you see my note on Labusas, it states "Please No more Marion Barry" so I do understand! BTW, I do like the fact that the sign was up on second street and they had a good crowd! I also remember one year where they city declared an emergency and closed the schools and had odd & Even gas usage. The temp was between 29 and 31 degrees and "Snow Furries" Jacksonville had 1 inch of snow! Back in the late 70 or early 80's!

damn Mr. Hill sorry i missed ya!!! since i now moved to florida they took my NC cell phone which had all your numbers!!! shit had alot of folks numbers!!
I was out there since wensday....
after the race saturday i spent the rest of the day on bethune cook ave... found it by accident!! had a blast good food and good music..good folks... cops not as bad neither.... but no flashing tits!!! that sucked....
I was hanging out with Mr. Sheilds founder of black bike week at Mytrle Beach SC....
had a blast... but my forehead is toast!!.... sun fried me !!!

You found the "Second Street" (Before it was renamed). On Thursday I was parked on the other side of the street from the Rental truck and the loud speakers he had. On the SIde street right behind the guy selling the fake Purses! Did you try the fired Crab? It looked great! We got some of the Orange T shirts and some Black Bike Week shirts!

This is what we rode in!!... My Buddy Craig {from NC} was sitting up front... i did not want to sit upfront ... i was scared i might upchuck on the pilots lap...that would'nt be kewl!!.. Then fucking Craig was asking all types of questions while in the air.... How fast , how high, how long, how much, ETC..... i just wanted him to shut the fuck up!!!
