drive chain ...time to replace the OEM drive chain on my '00 12R...what brand/style do you recommend and where's the best source to get this chain?...I'm running a 17 (ZX-11D)/48 (Sprocket Specialists) combo right now and may go back to the 17/46 (11D/OEM)...or 18/46(OEM/OEM)...OEM chain or masterlinked aftermarket?

i went with the DID x-chain (i think). they have a regular line and a high HP line. if u go by the specs/recommendations, the only option for the 12 is thier top model of the x ring chain. cost me $200CDN with tax.

I know front sprocket is interchangeable between ZX-11D and ZX-12R. Are the rear ones interchangeable too between those two models?

I am running stock sprockets, and with 20k miles on my stock chain, it's about time to get a new one. I was noticing the stock chain is made by DID, is this still what everyone recommends as a replacement? And where can I find it cheaper? Cause using Kawi's part number, it's 334.85 and that is just way tooo much...
Going to need a new rear sprocket as well, and Ron Ayer's has Kawi's part number going for 70.18..
Anywhere out there this is a lil cheaper? And does anyone know the link length of a stock chain for the 12 cause Spencer Cycle has the DID chain priced at $1 @ link?

dont know about the chain , but the sprockets can be gotten in several places. I used Afram, of coarse they only about 3 blocks away. But Sprocket Specialties, or Revolution all make pretty good stuff, and less expensive than OEM

Beans... at a $1 link for the DID....thats a fair price.
Vortex will sell you a rear sprocket for $62 delivered. Fronts are $22.
Im sure Spencer keeps a good selection in stock!

Glad to hear that $1 @ link is a fair price...by chance do you know how many links are in a stock chain?
And what is the purpose of the "clip type master link" and do I need one? If I do, then do I deduct one link from the total length to accomodate this specific link?

114 in a stock chain. Id go with 116 if possible. On a stock motor you can go with either a clip style link safety wired and siliconed.... or the rivet type link. Both run about the same price, $6.
