Side winds....... I went for a 200 mile ride with a couple of buddies on ZRXs and it was really windy. Does the bodywork on the 12R make our bikes more prone to being affected by side winds. A couple of times I had to struggle to stay on right side of road in gusty areas of about 30 to 40 MPH winds. It didn't seem like the ZRXs were as affected as I was.. Also, we rode about 50 - 60 miles at speeds over 100 MPH and does the 12R suck a lot of gas at those speeds??? Big smile!!!! We even found some nice twisty roads here in the countryside of Oklahoma... A really great ride... Mr Bill

hehe....just keep simple physics in mind. The faster an object travels..the less its effected by side winds ____________

I find that the 12 handles better in side winds than other bikes. The bike always feels planted, and you just work with it.

...one time...at band camp...actually, one time about three years ago, ddpete3 and I were crossing some bridge over a bay in NorCal and it was windy...we were probably going about 55-65 mph in the #1 (left lane) on our 12Rs...it was at night and it was windy...next thing you know, we're abruptly pushed over to the #2 lane by a gust of wind...it was if we had no choice...mother nature said, "I will push you two over to the #2 lane NOW!"...it was mondo spooky...we tried to make ourselves really small on the bike and slowed down to about 40 mph....so yeah, maybe the 'slab-sided' 12R is like a sail in strong side winds...you've been officially warned ____________ “We sleep safe in our beds because rough men
stand ready in the night to visit violence on those
who would do us harm.”

hey you all should think good things about side winds, cause they dont really suck until you have the combination of side winds and super mondo amounts of rain pouring down at the same time

Dang I use to live in Enid, OK...my best friend (we were roommates for 8 years from army to college life) still lives there.
I'll prolly be down there this summer, would be nice to ride with some fellow 12's.

I'm not too happy with Enid right now.. Local bike dealer sold my 4-wheeler and took a bad check from good old boy from Enid. I recently went and recovered it and upon returning home I get subpoenaed to return and attend possession hearing.. Good ole boys buddy who drove him here to get the 4-wheeler says good old boy sold it to him and he has a claim to it.. I'm fed up with courts and lawyers right now and a couple of good old boys from Enid are on my poopy list right now. Mr. Beans, I'd be honored to ride with ya.. I'll probably be hooked up with some other 12's once it gets warmer and I can get out more.. Just post when you're coming this way...
