HEY SPORTBIKE MOTORCYCLE MFGs!

...repeat after me: READABLE DIGITAL SPEEDO, LARGE ANALOG TACH FACE WITH NEEDLE, BRIGHT PROGRAMMABLE SHIFT LIGHT, TWO LOW BEAMS ON, TWO HIGH BEAMS ON...READABLE DIGITAL SPEEDO, LARGE ANALOG TACH FACE WITH NEEDLE, BRIGHT PROGRAMMABLE SHIFT LIGHT, TWO LOW BEAMS ON, TWO HIGH BEAMS ON...got it?...THEN GET TO IT!

with the speed and sophistication that these new 'clean-sheet' litre-plus bikes possess, anything less than these is probably unacceptable...hey you had a clean sheet, why short sheet it?

...btw...no matter what year you were born, don't you guys and gals think that for rider's/driver's visual acquisition of data from instrument gages while operating high speed equipment (ie. motorcycles and cars) its easier with the speed reference spelled out in large digits?....when the speedo says 55 MPH, you know that you're doing 55 instead of you guessing that you're 'somewhere' between 55 and 65 as the needle bounces between the small numbers crowded on that speedo face and Ponchorillo nails you with his radar gun....AND...its easier to SEE and reference both the shift light and needle on the tach with your peripheral vison instead of some skinny dimly lit LCD sweep from left to right...its the old K.I.S.S. (keep it simple, stupid)...for quick reacting machines, you need quick data acquisition, right?....RIGHT?....well, okay then....

With regard to instrumentation, how about a standardized interface? In other words, you could go shopping for the particular tach/speedo combo that tripped your trigger. Course, that would take consensus between all the manufacturers.

Actually, nothing is quicker to reference than an analog guage. Fer instance, go find a Claybrook-era car with an 85mph speedo, and tell me how quick you can tell how fast yer going...But your point is still well taken, in that when the gradiations for a 190mph speedo are spelled out on a 3 inch dial, it's pretty damned hard to tell how fast yer going.

...yeah but for very hi-perf street bikes ridden on the streets at legal and not-so-legal street speeds, my points are valid, yes?...young eyes and testosterone aside, you know its true

...btw...I just got a new prescription glasses last week...still could use the gage design I spec'd

...oh, yeah....make said speedo gage easily removed for 'closed course' antics by 'profesional riders' on modified motorcycles used for 'special events'

Never was a big fan of the shift light and would rather a moving needle for speedo & tach, 2 seperate round gauges and a fuel gauge over a oh shit light would be nice.

I was watching my speedo when the limiter kicked in. Pretty easy to see the speedo since my face was less than 12" away from it. All's well under the bubble....

lmfao@ Jon.....

Worm has a point though. I have the digital Speedo pon the 6RR and love it, but the tach sucks.....what I find myself doing is adjusting my shift light down to like 10500 RPM, adn then when On the track I kno wif the shiftlight goes out I am not high enough in the RPM range....so the shift light stays on all the time, if it goes out I down shift, and if I hit the rev limiter I up shift....I really wish the 6RR had a analog tach on it, that I could read easy....like the GSXR setup....just my .02 worth
