The seam goes against the motor...
Put a little bit of grease on the seam side and put the gasket into the head and you will see that it will stay there!!!

thanks CR I was pretty sure that was the way it went, I put an akro on the bike when I first bought it in 01'. and then I went to stock with a slip on, I remembered the right way both times and today it was just slipping my mind. I am installing at ti Muzzy right now, and I must say so far it is a good fit, I think I am in love with Muzzy all over again from my zx-9 days.I will have an update in about an hour after the test ride.....lol 10:30 at night and 77 outside, I love Florida.

I love the pipe, great fit, great sound, and the power by far is much better than I remember having with my akro. only thing I hate is the 2500 stumble but, I will be doing workmans pilot jet mod tomorrow and see how that works out

I do not know the "Correct " way, but I put the flat side against the engine with a dab of High Temp Silicone Glue. My thinking is
The hot gases are coming "From" the engine and I do not want them to have a direct edge to work on.
I understand the other way around because the engine side is better shaped and the edge of the pipe can cut into the split side of the gasket!

The seam goes against the motor is the way I do it. but it don't matter they will seal either way.
The manual dosen't say it just say's install them.

Every time I get a new bike, I plan to look and forget! Actually, I think that they "ARE" with the seam to the engine!
