piston oil jets
Does anyone know why the piston cooling oil jets for the zx12 are installed only on the number two and the number four cylinders while the number one and three oil passages are not drilled for jets.

entropy,
oil is directed through a jet upward from the bottom of the cylinder, aimed at the bottom of the piston. This oil, when the piston descends into it, cools the underside of the piston - allowing a lighter piston to rev higher (more heat produced/second) without melting or burning or deforming. Many engines depend on it, and jaw is asking why only two - and not the inboard or outboard pair, at that - have the jets.
I'd guess there are jets he's missing for the other two pistons, but I don't know.

Porsche used this on their Air cooled engines because they were actually Air/Oil cooled engines! And Old 911 like we have (1976) holds 14 quarts of Oil! Every change, I put in a "Case"! In the winter time, I run the system a "Gallon" low on oil to help the oil to get to temp!

The Kawasaki parts microfiche for ZX12A1,A2,B1,B2 all show only two, part number 92062-1086, nozzle. The illustration in the service also shows only two. I believe that Suzuki was the first motorcycle manufacturer to use this in production with the air/oil cooled GSXR but I may be mistaken on that. The design is not new and many automotive and motorcycle engines currently use it. But back to the ZX12, why only two and why cylinders two/four?
