New 14. vin # question
Bike arrived today !! Still in the box ... I noticed a CA in the vin..
Please tell me it's not a California model . Seems I read someone posting the same thing earlier.

i live in n.j. and a few gen 1 14s bought from cycleworld around here are cali bikes with the carcole canisters on them and yes ca in the vin.

I looked at a candy surf blue 14r the other day with a ca in the vin.

I believe mine has CA in the vin, but I haven't found the charoal cannisters if they are there? The kleen system is more complicated than on the older models, I noticed.

go to kawasaki.com put your vin in the parts diagram section and see if it is a cali bike or not.

In the case of the zx14 aren't the cali. models slower?

I think all our 14R's have the "CA".
10th place holder in VIN's is for year, so all 2012's are "C".
11th place holder is the plant code. It's up to each manufacturer, but me thinks it’s "A" for Akashi Works ...

I live in North Ga. halfway between Chattanooga and Atlanta in Rome .

Does this decoding work for the 2006 model? I have been searching and searching and can not find an answer. Is my bike a Cali model or not? Here is part of the vin JKBZXNA

Shotgun is right. If there were a code to tell you that it is a california bike, it would be in the 4th to 8th spot, I believe. Every 14R has a CA in it's VIN.

You can also look on the left side under the grill at the sticker on the frame.
and compare it to the copy of the stickers on the last couple of pages in the manual.
mine also had the ca...but is not a CA. model.

All your bikes are illegal. CA means Canadian model,please bring all such bikes to my place in Toronto to be impounded till further notice.I promise to take care of them and make certain they are ridden regularly to prevent any problems

I did this on the one I'm picking up Monday. my VIN# looks like it can go either way. So, is there away without seeing it first hand to know????
