When did you get a 12R?
I suggest some Michelins. What is your intended use for the bike? It is stock wheelbase or extended?

It is a total stock bike with less than 3000 miles. Perfect condition...showroom.....very lucky find for sure. Got it about a month ago. I love michelins but didn't know the best ones for street riding and an occasional run down the drag track. Like on free race days twice a year. Would like them to last a while.

Pilot 2CT's have been very popular, and there is the new Power Pure. Either should work fine for you application. At stock wheelbase you should have no traction issues. I would expect, with normal riding, about 3k miles from a rear tire and double that for the front...maybe even more in your case, since you are a lighter rider.
You should post some pics and impressions of the bike in the Dragbike zone! It sounds like a really nice bike!

Brenda,
I've put 30,000 miles on my 12 over the years and so far I've been the most pleased with Pilot 2CT's for the twisties and occasional dragstrip blast.
I just looked at your bike on the other post..........great find, it's BEAUTIFUL!!
A 190 rear will make it handle so much better.

Oh yeah, folks have been doing it for years with great results. The 12's rear wheel is 6" wide like almost every other big bore sportbike and they all come with 190's.
I had just mounted a new 180 on my 12 before the mishap. The narrower tire will be a tad lighter which is a good thing in racing because of less rotational weight and the bike handles better too.

Brenda, fortunately for you just about every maker out there makes kick ass tires...its 2010 after all. Most ditch the 200/50 rear tire and go with the 190/50, which is fine for straight line use.
My only beef with Michelin's pilot power and pilot power 2CT are that the fronts cup prematurely causing odd handling issues as they wear down. The power PURE is where its at for Michelin now. If i were to get a set of new tires for my 12 for LSR, street use, drag use, or even track days I'd consider them. They are light and sticky.
But honestly all of the manufacturers make great tires now. I've gone over 200 plenty of times on my Pirelli Supercorsas. Take your time, do some research I'm sure you'll be happy with the outcome.

Pilot Powers work very good, even at knee down angles. A 2CT would be an expense not needed if you will not be doing trackdays.
190/120 combo does work best on the 12.
In re; to "cupping', the proper tire pressure is absolutely critical to preformance and wear.
I run 35 psi front, 35.5 psi rear on my Y2K.
Good luck on your choice!

Shiphteey,
What pressure you running. I run 36 front and, like Psycho, no cupping problems.

Doug, every single PP or PP2CT front that comes into the shop is cupped. I've seen it now for 3 years. So far the Power PURE seems better. We're trying to work with our Michelin distributor as of this writing to warranty a 600 mile tire that has already cupped. We set tire pressure front and back at 35psi for all streetbikes unless otherwise requested. Its a lot easier for someone to bleed it down a couple psi than have to run to a gas station and add some air.
I too generally prefer the flickability that comes with higher pressure...even in daily riding. For sure low tire pressure contributes to cupping but PP and PP2CT seem to do it more/earlier over the Pirelli supercorsas/corsa 3, Dunlop Qualifier/Q2, even the BT016s. Just going by what I've see. Just like every Vortex rear sprocket that comes through shows more wear than other brands...hell we can't even get one to last 2 hours in an endurance race with stock motor 636s! They sharkfin very prematurely.
Guess its just one of those things. NO issues whatsoever with their rears, fyi.

Keep in mind re; PP's....
Most riders do not understand that these tires require proper pressure to maintain shape and profile. The heavier the bike, the more pressure is needed.
Grip on these tires has nothing to do with pressure.....Compound / Temperature determines grip. Most riders lower the psi too much thinking they will have better grip. Then under heavy breaking will "cup the front". Overall fork damping will also effect wear. Most riders do not keep up with maintaining fork oil either.
