2010 Season set to start in Anaheim, California.
After an intense 2009 season, Supercross for 2010 is about to kick off in Anaheim, California. 2010 sees some major changes with Chad Reed switching to Monster Energy Kawasaki. Suzuki's putting all their eggs in one basket moving Ryan Dungey into the 450 class. Yamaha's Josh Grant's looking worse for wear with a pair of black eyes and Honda's Andrew Short is politely waiting for his turn to win a race. In the midst of all this, Ryan Villopoto is poised to ride past everyone if he can and James Stewart's polishing a shiny new diamond ring.
The first race of the season takes place Saturday, January 9th and you can watch it live on SPEED.
James Stewart

2009 Supercross Champion James Stewart picked up a super fantabulous diamond ring – an award that represented the extreme struggle he faced coming from nineteenth in points at the beginning of the season to first by the end of the 2009 season. Though Stewart’s relationship with Alpinestars remains through 2010, it sees a switch to the long awaited Nike motocross boot.
Stewart told Bikeland that the mental aspect of last season was considerably more difficult for him than the riding. Stewart spent the majority of the off-season dealing with illness – though he said that he felt it wouldn’t effect his performance. When asked about his relationship with Reed, Stewart told Bikeland that the rivalry still exists, but noted that he had Villopoto and other new riders to contend with.
Stewart also told Bikeland that he saw himself as a spokesman for the industry, and that his projects off the track, like his upcoming TV series on FUEL helped the industry grow and helped ensure its existence in the future so that “everybody could have jobs and go home and feed the family”
Chad Reed

2010 sees Chad Reed switching teams yet again, this time to Monster Energy Kawasaki. Reed has not raced Stewart since last May in Las Vegas Nevada where he ran Stewart off the track - a move many fans continue to question. When asked if Chad carried any of the personal conflict he had with Yamaha’s James Stewart over from last year, Reed said that it was a new year, but told us to “get ready for a new year with new dramas”.
When asked how Chad maintained his longevity in the series, riding at a top level for so many seasons, Reed replied - “You make me feel old – I’m only 27!”
Andrew Short

Red Bull Honda’s Andrew Short did not win a single race in the 2009 SX season - Short told Bikeland that since May's season ender he’s worked on his speed by studying the riding styles of his competitors. Short and Honda now have a full year of development with their new bike under their belt and plan to put it to good use in 2010.
Josh Grant

Yamaha’s Josh Grant, apparently hiding a pair of black eyes under his sunglasses, crashed in practice earlier this week - he told Bikeland he was unhurt and still in good shape, however he did mention that he was unsure if he would be able to race on Saturday. Grant told Bikeland that what he learned from 2009 was that, “You don’t always have to be the fastest guy to win”. New team sponsors include Muscle Milk and Shift as well as, Shoei who is developing a Josh Grant replica helmet.
Ryan Villopoto
Washington State native and former Lites champion Ryan Villopoto told Bikeland that he was ready to compete with James and Chad and hopefully win some races. Villopoto said that the transition to the 450 was more difficult than he had expected due to the fact that he’s not that tall, and that "you couldn’t 'override the bike like you could a 250". He also told us that he felt one of the hardest aspects of the series was the aggressive travel schedule.
