East Coast Members Face off in Maryland

June 10, 2005 (Waldorf, MD). Friday, Bikeland.org's The DragBikeZone held it's first official Drag Racing event at Maryland International Raceway. Attended by over 50 Bikeland members, the race was an enormous success. Participants travelled from as far away as Florida and Texas to see who would be King of the Street in the open class shootouts.

Surprise visits by Orient Express and former World Land Speed record holder Doug Meyer added to the excitement. Track conditions were excellent, however the + 100' heat and extreme humidity took it's toll both on the riders and their machines.

In the Bracket Race, CrotchRocket took Madmike by .015 of a second to clinch the victory, and won a brand new Power Commander USB from our friends at Dynojet.

Osti33 took the honors for the fastest Kawasaki turning a 155.1 mph on motor, and won a Fully Perforated Leather "Ninja" Jacket courtesy of Kawasaki.

ZX12girl beat Osti33, aboard kzz1's Hayabusa, running a 9.12 at 155mph with a .273 reaction time... for winning the Heads Up race she received a $200 bonus from Orient Express.

Entropy won a set of EBC brake pads for travelling the farthest to attend this event (a mere 24 hour drive from Texas!). Madmike also won a set of EBC pads for placing second (by a hair) to CrotchRocket.

RAC4IT won $100 to spend with Muzzys, for running the fastest Muzzy, onboard a Hayabusa with a Muzzy Sidewinder system..

Elf motor oils generously provided 4 cases of their Full Synth 20-50 product to the runners up in the classes. (MRD left early and doesn't know he won!).

Disappointments were from Buddy who encountered black smoke and a possible spun bearing on his tricked out ZX-12R , and a huge setback for ZRXDean,... his Turbo'd ZRX sitting idle in the trailer with no oil pressure.

Talk of rematches and an annual event left the crowd hungry for more. With a .015 second difference separating the winners, you can bet this grudge is far from being settled.

Many thanks from everyone to the event sponsors,

Muzzy Performance Products
Orient Express
Elf Motor Oils
Dynojet
EBC Brakes

Thanks to the organizers, Madmike, Jason Miller and Chris Miller from MIR, Redelk for the banners and the shirts, and everyone who came, especially those who came to watch. This event further solidifies that the Internet and clubs like Bikeland.org and the DragBikeZone are fuelled by real enthusiasts who love the sport of motorcycling so much that they are willing to go to such great lengths and distances to compete with their friends!

Next Year!
