BMW Motorrad International Bikermeeting Celebrates Its Birthday

BMW Motorrad International Bikermeeting Celebrates Its Birthday and 25 Years of the GS
More than 30,000 fans from around the world came to one of Europe's largest motorcycle gatherings in 2004. This year, from July 1st to 3rd, BMW Motorrad will celebrate the fifth birthday of the biker meeting at the grounds in front of the Hausbergbahn. For the special birthday price of 5 euros this year's guests can take a two-way lift ride.

Twenty-five years of the Boxer GS is another reason to celebrate. In addition to a special exhibition with a number of GS bikes, the "25 Years of the GS" edition model will be presented. This R 1150 GS Adventure includes heated hand grips, a Driver Information Display, an Enduro transmission with a short first gear, the partially integrated BMW Motorrad ABS, white blinkers, a large 30-liter gas tank and engine protection guards. In the exclusive color combination of matt Alpine white, blue and gray, it's available for 13,090 euros.

Just as in the previous years the biker meeting's entertainment program will have a lot to offer: The newest BMW models will be available for free test rides on the picturesque country roads and mountain passes of the surrounding Alpine foothills. One of this year's special highlights will be the premiere of the new HP 2 Enduro. The HP 2 drivers' camp will offer attractions from the sport of racing: Bikers can watch the mechanics of the Power Cup's Enduro Team Feil at work or see drivers Simo Kirrsi, Jimmy Lewis and Christian Pfeiffer as they demonstrate what the HP 2 Enduro can do off road during a show race.

One of the weekend's highlights will be the now legendary biker party on Saturday evening with the band Blechbloas'n. And the BMW Motorrad Cinema will attract a number of visitors. Michael Martin will present his interesting and informative slide show on "The World's Deserts," and Kevin and Julia Sanders will report on their record-breaking trip across the Americas in "Miles Ahead." In addition BMW Motorrad UK will tell Ewan McGregor and Charley Boorman's story, "Long Way Round."

On Saturday all bikers are invited to bring their machines to the grand motorcycle parade through the Werdenfelser Land. Fans of vintage bikes especially will enjoy the procession of old-timers on Sunday.

Whoever brings their own tent can camp free of charge at one of the campgrounds right near the party. Further information is available at www.bmw-motorrad.com/bikermeeting.
