Munich. Travel through the Middle Kingdom along the Chinese Wall between rice paddies and on mountain roads. This dream holiday for all motorcycle fans is offered as of April by the BMW partner Edelweiss Bike Travel, the first travel organiser in the world to offer motorcycle tours through China. For nine days the participants can experience the little known country with its fascinating landscapes and interesting people right up close on new BMW motorcycles of the models F 650 GS, R 1150 GS Adventure and the R 1200 GS.
The route begins in the capital of Beijing and leads through the Shanxi province, which is considered a cradle of Chinese culture, and then on to Xian. The motorcycle tourists will see the famous terracotta army in Xian and the Yungang grottoes which were already used in the second century as a Buddhist temple. Natural wonders such as the Yellow River, the Hukon waterfall and the impressive mountain landscapes of Shanxi province also lie along the varied and eventful route.
The tours will take place from April to October and are accompanied by two experienced guides. Luggage will be transported by a support vehicle. Accommodation on the 1700 kilometres will be in western-standard hotels in the big cities and in typically Chinese guest houses in rural areas.
