Correos Prepago Yamaha VR46 Master Camp Search for Speed on Dutch GP Friday2023-08-21 08:51Correos Prepago Yamaha VR46 Master Camp took on the ’The Cathedral of Speed‘ today. Manuel Gonzalez was vying for a provisional place inside the top 14, but he ultimately ended the Friday of the TT Assen weekend in 17th place in the combined rankings. Gonzalez had a strong start to the P1 session on his first run at the TT Circuit Assen, one of his favourite tracks on the Moto2 World Championship calendar. With the 4.5km track bathing in sunshine in the morning, the Spaniard got to work trying to find a good set-up for this weekend‘s racing action. As the pace went up in the final stages, Manugasss‘ best lap, a 1‘38.181s, set on lap 9/19 saw him finish P1 in 20th place. The number-18 rider was quick to improve on his morning time in the again sunny P2 session. He was pushing hard, as he felt there was potential to secure a provisional spot in Q2. A few hot laps early in the session saw him move up to 14th place in the combined rankings. However, as the pace got quicker towards the end of the session, Gonzalez was relegated to a position outside the provisional Q2 cut off. His best time, a 1‘37.538s, set on lap 13/20, had him complete the first day of action in Assen in 17th place in the P2 and the combined timesheets. GELETE NIETO GELETE NIETO SPORTS DIRECTOR We expected more from this first day. Manu used the hard tyres for almost all of P1, riding with a good rhythm and finding a good lap time. He changed tyres at the end of the session, but he found traffic and couldn‘t achieve a time attack. The setting we used in the afternoon was different compared to the one from this morning, and it didn‘t work well. We will spend the rest of the afternoon studying the data to be much more competitive tomorrow. Source: Yamaha VR46 Master Camp Moto2 Team Click here to visit our forums to discuss this story |
