Gonzalez to Start Sachsenring Moto2 Race from P122023-07-24 12:51Correos Prepago Yamaha VR46 Master Camp‘s Manuel Gonzalez‘ Friday morning efforts had promoted him to the Q2 session. He went on to secure 12th place on the grid for tomorrow‘s Motorrad Grand Prix Deutschland. Kasma Daniel used the wet P3 and dry Q1 to get a feel for a wide variety of track conditions. He will start tomorrow‘s race from 28th position. Rain this morning made time improvements in P3 impossible. This meant Gonzalez achieved his goal to secure a spot in the Q2 session. He opted to not take too many risks in the morning, to be assured he and his bike would be 100% ready to push in qualifying. However, he met with fierce competition in the dry afternoon session. The Spaniard set a 1‘25.373s on his third lap that had him hold 15th place as he returned to the pits. Manugasss left it to the last minute on his second run to improve to a 1‘24.516 on lap 7/8. It earned him 12th position. Daniel used his second day of riding at the Sachsenring to gain further confidence. The rainy start to the P3 session was a challenge he welcomed, as he was keen to get more experience in the wet. However, the Moto2 Q1 track conditions were completely different. The circuit was perfectly dry. Despite having only had one dry session at this circuit before qualifying, the Malaysian rider was immediately pushing in the 15-minute shoot-out and dropped into 1‘26s-laps on his first run. Unable to improve on his second run, his 1‘26.125s set on lap 4/8 saw him finish the session in 14th place. He will start tomorrow‘s race from P28. GELETE NIETO GELETE NIETO SPORTS DIRECTOR We are not satisfied about today‘s result. During the qualifying, Manu had a problem with the rear tyre, the bike was vibrating a lot. We changed it, but the problem was still there. Now we have to work to solve this problem for tomorrow‘s race. It‘s a pity because Manu was feeling strong, and he could do more. Kasma improved his lap time by one second compared to yesterday. That‘s good! He‘s feeling better on the bike, and he is getting more confident. Now he‘s focused on tomorrow‘s race with no pressure. MANUEL GONZALEZ MANUEL GONZALEZ It was a very bad quali for me today. Something was not working as it should, because I was not able to ride well in the left corners. The rear tyre was vibrating a lot. The team will check everything and see what the problem was. But in general, I felt fast, and I think I can make a strong comeback tomorrow. KASMA DANIEL KASMA DANIEL It was a tricky day, but I‘m happy because I‘ve been able to have a new experience. The P3 was good with the wet conditions. I‘m confident in the rain. I missed something to achieve a better result for the qualifying, but I‘m gaining confidence with the bike, and I feel good while I‘m riding. Without a Warm Up we can‘t try anything different, so I need to be ready for the race. I‘ll enjoy it. Source: Yamaha VR46 Master Camp Moto2 Team Click here to visit our forums to discuss this story |
