WorldSSP - The PETRONAS MIE MS Racing Honda Team lands at Assen

2023-05-11 11:33
The PETRONAS MIE MS Racing Honda Team is more than ready for the Supersport World Championship round taking place at the TT Circuit Assen in The Netherlands this weekend.

Category rookies Tarran Mackenzie and Adam Norrodin have made a promising start to the 2023 season during rounds 1 and 2 in Australia and Indonesia. Both have been regular points scorers and have made gradual progress as they get to grips with the race format and their CBR600RR machines. Now, almost six weeks since round 2, the team is keen to return to the racetrack and continue its growth path during what is set to be another action-packed event. Both Mackenzie and Norrodin have previous knowledge of Assen, having raced there while competing in the British Superbike and Moto3 championships respectively, and so this will be to their advantage heading into the coming race weekend.

The TT Circuit Assen is one of the most historic on the calendar, having hosted motorcycle races ever since the 1950s and the WorldSBK series since 1992. This ‘cathedral’ of motorcycle racing is located in the Drenthe province of The Netherlands and often attracts large crowds of passionate fans, while the riders love the technical challenge it presents. The track currently measures 4.542 km in length and incorporates eighteen turns in all.

Tarran Mackenzie

“I’m really looking forward to the first round in Europe. Assen is an amazing track and I cannot wait to ride my bike again after having more than one month off since Indonesia. Aside from Donington, Assen is a track I’ve had a lot of experience at, so I’m excited to get riding again and improve on our performance at the first two rounds.”

Adam Norrodin

“Assen is quite a tricky track for me. I’ve been there three times before when I was competing in Moto3 and I didn’t do too badly, so we can say that I have a good mindset heading into this round. I’m confident that our package will be better than at previous rounds and I’m excited to get back to work. Hopefully the team is as ready and motivated as I am!”
