Yamaha VR46 Master Camp Team Experience Luckless Aragon GP

The Yamaha VR46 Master Camp Team started today‘s Gran Premio de Aragón feeling optimistic about their chances to score points this afternoon, but two luckless opening laps denied them the opportunity. Neither Keminth Kubo nor Manuel Gonzalez were able to finish the race due to a collision with another rider.

Kubo started from P29 on the grid and found himself in the midst of the chaos that resulted from a crash of a fellow rider in Turn 2 on the opening lap. He ran wide but managed to soon rejoin the track and resumed his challenge in 22nd place. The Thai rider aimed to use the remainder of the 21 laps to follow other riders and soak up as much experience as possible. But the learning experience ended on lap 17, when he crashed in Turn 13.

Gonzalez had a good start from 14th place on the grid and held his position on the opening lap. The Spaniard was feeling confident and had the ambition to score solid points in front of his home crowd. However, his campaign came to a sudden halt after he collided with another rider in Turn 12 on the second lap.

Today‘s results see Gonzalez in 19th place in the championship standings with 44 points. Keminth Kubo keeps his 28th place with 4 points. The Yamaha VR46 Master Camp Team also remain in 11th position, with 57 points.

The team now travel to the Grand Prix of Japan to be held at the MotorLand Aragón circuit in Japan next weekend.

After a very good Warm Up, all the team had a really good feeling about Manu's race. But we have been unlucky, at corner 12 another rider crashed and collided with him. Today we expected a top 10, and considering the race pace, we could finish between 7th and 9th.

Kubo gained some positions at the beginning of the race. He was riding with his group, but another rider crashed him out, trying to overtake. That's a real pity for both of them. We couldn't expect such a bad result again. Knowing that it's not been our riders‘ fault leaves an even more bitter taste.

We continue our work, and we hope to leave the bad luck in Europe.

Some riders crashed in front of me when the race started. I gained some positions, and I tried to push as much as I could. After half of the race, the front tyre was slippery, and my pace was getting slower. With four laps to go, Hada tried to overtake me, but we crashed together. I'm really disappointed, but we need to look forward. See you in Motegi.

The bad luck is still with us. When the race started, everybody was a bit more aggressive than usual. It was difficult to overtake, but I was able keep my position. Suddenly, at Turn 12, a rider behind crashed into me. I was comfortable on the bike, and I think today I would have finished in the top 10. Now it's time to start thinking about Japan, a new track for me. It will be challenging, but I'm sure I will enjoy it.
