Miserable End to Yamaha VR46 Master Camp Teams Misano Weekend

2022-09-16 06:27
The Yamaha VR46 Master Camp Team was highly anticipating the Gran Premio di San Marino e della Riviera di Rimini race, but their hopes of championship points ended on Lap 1. Manuel Gonzalez and Keminth Kubo had unlucky crashes on the opening lap, ending their race prematurely.

Gonzalez started from P19. The Spanish talent had proven throughout the weekend that he had the speed to be competitive and he was keen to put it to good use. However, a crash in Turn 11 ended his chances. The rookie was okay, but unable to get back out on track.

It was a GP to forget for Kubo. The Thai rider had struggled to find a good feeling all weekend, and in the race he had a luckless crash in Turn 4. Suffering from backpain, he was not able to rejoin and will hope for better fortune at the next round.

Today‘s results put Gonzalez in 18th place in the championship standings with 44 points. Keminth Kubo keeps his 28th place with 4 points. The Yamaha VR46 Master Camp Team also remain in 11th position, with 57 points.

The team will be back in action on 16-18 Sept for Round 15 of the 2022 Moto2 World Championship, held at the MotorLand Aragón circuit in Spain.

I can‘t say a lot, unfortunately. Our race was really short. We had high expectations on Manu‘s side, but he crashed on the first lap in a very high-speed corner. Luckily he's fine, despite the fact that he was riding at 247km/h at the time. I‘m sure he will be highly motivated for the next race.

Kubo finished this weekend in the worst way. Now he has to reset his mind and be focused on Aragón.

It‘s the second race in a row that I don‘t pass under the chequered flag. I‘m really disappointed because today I was highly motivated, and I knew I could recover and try to finish inside the top 10. I was thinking to overtake the rider in front of me in the next corner, and I crashed without expecting it. I‘m sorry for the team, but our work will be rewarded soon.

I had a great start, overtaking a lot of riders. I was pushing hard when another rider crashed, and his bike touched mine and made me crash again. I have a lot of pain in my back, but nothing is broken. I think I only need rest and medicines.
