As the track was drying, their lap times were improving, but in the end they didn‘t quite achieve their objectives. They secured 19th and 31st place respectively on tomorrow‘s Moto2 grid. GRAND PRIX OF SAN MARINO E DELLA RIVIERA DI RIMINI QUALIFYING LOCAL TIME: 15:25 GMT+2 AIR TEMPERATURE: 25°C TRACK TEMPERATURE: 29°C WEATHER: CLOUDY / HUMIDITY 67% 19th MANUEL GONZALEZ 1'36.960 / 9 LAPS 31st KEMINTH KUBO 1'38.588 / 8 LAPS Misano Adriatico (Italy), 3rd September 2022 The Yamaha VR46 Master Camp Team put in some hard work on the second day of the Gran Premio di San Marino e della Riviera di Rimini weekend. Manuel Gonzalez was keen to work his way through Moto2‘s Q1 but narrowly missed out, putting him in 19th position on the grid. Keminth Kubo showed mental strength to turn a fruitless FP3 session into a personal best lap of the weekend so far in Q1, but suffered a crash shortly after. He will start the race from 31st place. Gonzalez was focused on getting himself a place in Q2. The talented rookie was looking promising for the majority of the 15-minute session, featuring inside the top 4. However, the sting is always in the tail in Moto2. The pace quickened in the final stages and Manugasss ended the session in fifth place with a best time of 1‘36.960s, set on lap 6/9, that was just 0.028 off the top 4. As a result, he will start tomorrow's race from P19. After three difficult free practice sessions, Kubo ’hit reset‘ during the Moto2 Q1 session. He decided to focus on the priorities: finding a good base set-up, finding the right lines, and gaining experience. The Thai rider was pushing and gradually improved his time, but ultimately crashed as he tried to kick the pace up a notch. Despite this, his 1‘38.588s, set on lap 5/8, was a new personal best time in Misano. He will start tomorrow‘s race from P31, hoping to gain further experience. GELETE NIETO GELETE NIETO SPORTS DIRECTOR Manu missed 0.3s to enter Q2. He is working well with the team, and he's improving. We are not 100% happy with today‘s result, but we are growing. We made an important change in the setting of the bike, and he liked it, so we are confident for tomorrow‘s race. I‘m so sorry for Kubo‘s situation. It‘s a shame for him and his team. He made several mistakes and crashes, wasting a lot of time to study and adjust the bike. It‘s a difficult weekend for him, I hope he can be able to finish tomorrow‘s race. MANUEL GONZALEZ MANUEL GONZALEZ Today it‘s been more difficult than we expected. In FP3, my feeling wasn‘t as good as yesterday, and I couldn‘t enter Q2 directly. In Q1, I was pushing alone to try to improve my lap time each lap, and I finished very close to the top 4. The result is not what we wanted, but we are understanding the bike better. I think tomorrow I can do a great recovery race because I have a good pace. We will have to fight a lot. KEMINTH KUBO KEMINTH KUBO I made some mistakes during FP3, and I had two crashes. In qualifying, I tried to ride as soon as I could, and when I felt confident, I tried to push more, but then I crashed again. I‘m so sorry for the team. It‘s been a difficult day.
