Granado closes the season with a Top 5 at Misano

The Misano World Circuit Marco Simoncellli hosted the last race of the 2021 FIM MotoE World Cup season, in which Eric Granado took a solid fifth place. He had kept the title fight alive until the last round and, thanks to his result at the San Marino GP, ends the season fourth in the overall standings with 84 points. The campaign was his third in the electric competition, and his first with ONE Energy Racing.

The second race of the weekend was contested over eight laps, the grid established by the qualifying session on Saturday. Granado started from the front row in second place but got off the line poorly and dropped places on the opening corner. The ONE Energy Racing rider regrouped and pushed hard, trying to climb positions despite the leaders having already broken away. The Brazilian eventually finished fifth.

Granado concludes the 2021 FIM MotoE World Cup with 2 victories - at the French GP and Dutch GP - and a second position - at the Austrian GP.

Johan Stigefelt - Team Director

"We came into this round with high expectations, as only seven points separated us from the leader with two races to go. Anything could have happened. However, the results didn't go in our favour at the last two races of 2021. Eric was very fast in the first race and wanted to get the victory, in order to face the second race of the weekend with a bigger advantage, but things did not turn out the way we wanted. His start today was not great, it was difficult for us to find pace, and we finally finished in fifth. It has been a good season, in which we have shown that both the team and Eric are very fast - with two wins and a podium. I want to thank Eric, all the staff and all of our sponsors for joining us in our third year in MotoE."

#51 Eric Granado

“This season we have had a lot of ups and downs. We have always been among the fastest, but luck has not been on our side throughout the year. However, the good thing is that I have always given one hundred percent. The team have done a great job and we deserved so much more. Yesterday I felt very good, and the bike worked very well. But after the crash it was not the same and today, we did the best we could. It's a bittersweet feeling at the end of the season, but now is the time to look to the future. I want to thank the team, partners, and all those who have worked so that this year I could be on the bike giving my all."
