Aragón awaits for Xavi Vierge and Jake Dixon2020-10-14 11:48This weekend will see Xavi Vierge and Jake Dixon tackle the second event in the October triple-header: the Gran Premio de Aragón. PETRONAS Sprinta Racing’s Moto2 pairing will be hoping for results at MotorLand Aragón that match their speed and potential, after another heart-breaking GP last weekend which saw both in early podium contention and Dixon with a controlling lead for much of the race. Vierge, who sustained fractures in both feet after a highside during the French GP, underwent further medical checks with Dr. Xavier Mir earlier this week in Barcelona. Dr. Mir confirmed the diagnoses from the Le Mans circuit of three fractured toes and a fractured lateral malleolus. The Spaniard has already commenced his physiotherapy programme and will be looking to be as fit as possible for this weekend’s race. Team-mate Dixon will be heading into the 11th Moto2 race of the season with renewed confidence, despite crashing out of the French GP. Showing good speed and maturity, the Brit was unfortunate for his race to end whilst he was leading. Although Jake doesn’t have much experience at the Aragón circuit, he is confident of being able to replicate his speed and rhythm, to hopefully end the weekend with a great result. Free Practice 1 for the Moto2 pair will get underway on Friday at 10.55am local time (4.55pm MYT), with a start time for Sunday’s 21-lap race of 12.20pm local time (6.20pm MYT). Xavi Vierge After coming back from France, I went straight to the Hospital Universtari Dexeus in Barcelona to do another medical check-up with Dr. Mir. He confirmed the fracture in the big toe of my left foot, and the fourth and fifth toes and lateral malleolus in my right foot. The injury is more painful in the right, but together with the doctors and the team we have decided to follow a conservative rehabilitation and physiotherapy programme – that we started immediately after the crash – and work towards racing in Aragón. I know that it won’t be an easy weekend, but I’m confident of our possibilities. We’ve worked really hard in the last few races and been running at the front. Now Aragón is another race on home soil, so I hope we can get the result that we deserve. I want to thank Dr. Mir and his team and my physiotherapist for their support and am looking forward to getting back on the bike.
