PETRONAS Sprinta Racing Moto3 looking to recover form at Aragón

2020-10-14 11:47
This weekend will see the first of two back-to-back Moto3 races at MotorLand Aragón for PETRONAS Sprinta Racing’s John McPhee and Khairul Idham Pawi. McPhee will be looking to return to the top-three at the Gran Premio de Aragón, after a recent run of disappointing results, while KIP will want to continue making progress.

After the disappointment of the French GP, where he was taken out by another rider, McPhee will be aiming to stay at the sharp end of the field and have an incident free race. The Scot enjoyed a positive event at Aragón last year, showing strong pace in Free Practice and ending the race just 0.066secs shy of the podium. John will also be looking to move himself back up the championship standings; he is currently fifth with 98 points.

Team-mate KIP has fond memories of the Aragón circuit, as it was the scene of his world championship debut in 2015. Although the Malaysian considers it to be one of the more difficult circuits on the calendar, KIP is ready for the challenge. After scoring his highest placed 2020 finish last weekend in France, he will be looking to continue the momentum and make further progress at the Spanish circuit across the next two races.

The Gran Premio de Aragón will get underway for the Moto3 pair on Friday with Free Practice 1 at 9am local time (3pm MYT), with Sunday’s 19-lap race due to start at 11am local time (5pm MYT).

John McPhee

Last weekend’s result was unfortunate, but there’s still five races left and the main thing is that we’ve been fast at every event. We’re looking to continue this form at Aragón and have a better result there. I was strong at last year’s GP and it is somewhere that I like a lot. With two races there we have a lot of time to work on the settings, make sure we have a good feeling with the bike and get into a good rhythm. I’m looking forward to what will hopefully be two strong weekends.
