Vierge and Dixon eager to come back fighting in Moto2 French GP

PETRONAS Sprinta Racing’s riders Xavi Vierge and Jake Dixon are raring to go for the next triple-header of Moto2 races, which starts with the Grand Prix de France at Le Mans this weekend. After a disappointing Catalan GP, the pair are eager to come back fighting in France.

The 4.2km long French circuit has been kind to Vierge in the past, who qualified and finished the 2019 Moto2 race fifth and qualified on the front row in 2018. Despite the frustrating result last time out, the Spaniard has shown good form in recent races, including stints in the lead, and will be aiming to return to fighting for the podium this weekend. Xavi goes into the 10th race of the year eighth in the riders’ standings, just two points shy of seventh.

Team-mate Dixon has also been riding at this best in recent races, achieving his first ever second-row qualifying result and his first top-six finish in the Moto2 category in the past two events. Although the Catalan GP came to a disheartening early conclusion, the British rider is still confident of being able to continue making progress in his first year with Kalex machinery, and fight for top-ten positions again.

Free practice gets underway for the Moto2 pair at 10.55am local time (4.55pm MYT) on Friday, with Sunday’s 25-lap race due to start at 2.30pm local time (8.30pm MYT) – 2hrs 10mins later than usual.

Le Mans is a track that I like a lot, I have always enjoyed riding my bike there and I have had some really good races in the past. I’m really looking forward to this weekend, as we have been very competitive in the last four races. I’m eager to continue that and try to achieve our goal: to fight for, and finish on, the podium. We already have the ability to do this, but in the last couple of races a mistake from me or another rider has meant that we couldn’t achieve it. Our objectives for this weekend are to be competitive, enjoy riding the bike and then achieve that podium. The team is doing an amazing job and we will give our maximum like always.
