Trastevere73 Shows Resilience in Difficult 2nd MotoGP eSport Global Series Round

Lorenzo Daretti (aka 73Trast or Trastevere73) showed great determination at the second Global Series round of the 2020 MotoGP eSport season. Though both races proved to be a challenge, the Italian never gave up and pushed on to take sixth and fifth place respectively in Race 3 (Austria) and Race 4 (Malaysia).



Today, Monster Energy Yamaha MotoGP‘s Lorenzo Daretti (aka 73Trast or Trastevere73) had to put the bit between his teeth in his hunt for championship points at the second of four MotoGP eSport Global Series rounds. Competing at the notoriously difficult Spielberg track (Austria) and the always challenging Sepang circuit (Malaysia), he secured a sixth and fifth place respectively.

Daretti started Race 3 from fifth on the grid at the Spielberg circuit, which is always a tricky track. Unfortunately, Trast73 never felt completely comfortable, but the Yamaha rider kept pushing relentlessly. In the end he had to settle for sixth place.

Trastevere73 knew he had to recover during Race 4, set at the Malaysian track. Though still not fully in his element again, he was battling for a podium finish. He had managed to fight himself up to fourth place on the opening lap, having started from fifth on the grid, but it wasn‘t to last. Soon after, the Italian collided with Juan_nh16 and suffered a crash. Though the two-time MotoGP eSport Champion showed great resilience, recovering from last place on lap one to fifth position across the finish line, he can‘t help but feel disappointed for missing out on the podium.

Nevertheless, Trastevere73‘s damage control in Race 3 and Race 4 brought his total up to 61 solid points. This puts him in third place in the rankings for the 2020 MotoGP eSport Championship. He is keen on bridging the 34-point gap to first at the third Global Series round held on 30 October, 2020.

If I‘m honest, I'm not very happy with how things went. In both races I could fight for the podium, but things didn‘t work out. I never felt as calm, serene, and fast as I had felt the days before. That said, during the race at the Austrian track I did some beautiful overtakes. But the feeling with the bike was not fantastic and I finished in sixth place. In Malaysia I was actually fighting for third place when I crashed due to contact with Juan, and then I found myself in last place on the first lap. That‘s how fast your fortunes can change in eSport. But I still managed to recover a lot, and I finished in fifth position. Considering the situation I was in at the end of the first lap, fifth place is good damage control. But obviously the gap to Adrian is bigger than before. His brother Cristian has overtaken me in the standings, but by only 5 points. Everything is still open. I‘m third in the championship, but we have to do perfect races in the next rounds. I will work hard to prevent what happened in these races from happening again. I will definitely change my approach, because I didn‘t even feel like me when I was racing. I can give much more! I know that I am one of the three fastest riders in the championship, and in the next races I will prove it! You always have to learn from mistakes.
