MIE Racing Honda team back in action at Magny-Cours

2020-10-02 08:26
Just over a week since the conclusion of the sixth Superbike World Championship round in Spain, the MIE Racing Honda Team is now on its way to the French circuit of Nevers Magny-Cours for the seventh, and penultimate, round of what is a shortened 2020 series, a consequence of the Covid-19 pandemic.

Japanese rider and championship rookie Takumi Takahashi is ready for the challenge of another new track, the intention being to continue to improve both his feeling and his outright performance aboard his CBR1000RR-R Fireblade SP. Having not raced at the French circuit before, Takahashi will aim to make a constructive start to the weekend already during Friday’s practice sessions.

The ‘Circuit de Nevers Magny-Cours’ was constructed in 1960. The facility has hosted both Formula 1 and MotoGP races and has been a permanent fixture on the Superbike calendar since 2003. The track is 4.441 km in length, features 8 left-hand turns, 9 right-handers and runs in a clockwise direction.

The MIE Racing Honda team will be on track at 10.30am on Friday, ready for the weekend’s opening free practice session.

“Magny-Cours is another track I’ve only seen on video, so it’s a complete unknown for us. Having said that, it was the same at Catalunya and that was one of the tracks where I felt better on the bike so we’ll head to France confident that we can improve further. It looks like weather conditions are going to be tricky, so we’ll also have to see how that plays out and affects the overall race weekend.”
