It’s back to work at a hotter Motorland Aragón for Team HRC2020-09-04 08:05Fresh from round 4 of the 2020 Superbike World Championship, Team HRC remain at the Motorland Aragón circuit in Spain for round 5, which got underway today in dry, sunny conditions. By the end of the first 50-minute free practice opening practice, Leon Haslam had set a best of 1’50.978 to place ninth with Alvaro Bautista just behind him in tenth place with a 1’51.000. The afternoon’s hotter second session saw the two Team HRC riders continue the hard work aboard their CBR1000RR-R Fireblade SP along with their respective teams. Bautista almost immediately improved on his morning’s best to set a 1’50.736 while Haslam was able to lower his time later on in the session to close with a 1’50.890. Thanks to these results, the riders closed day one in, respectively, seventh and tenth place in the combined standings. As we already had a good set-up from last week, this morning we tried something quite different but we didn't find anything so special so we went back to the set-up that we know works, preferring to concentrate on the tyre test to see if everything was ok also in the hotter weather conditions. The track is definitely a little less high-performing but I'm still happy with the feeling I got with the bike. We’ve been working to improve our race pace and the difference between my laps this morning and my last lap this afternoon was just one tenth, so I think we’ve made a good step there.
