Vierge and Dixon ready to put wheels back into motion at Jerez2020-07-28 08:49Just five days after the Moto2 World Championship returned to action at Jerez last weekend, round three sees PETRONAS Sprinta Racing’s Xavi Vierge and Jake Dixon return to the same venue for the Andalucia GP in a demanding back-to-back under the Spanish sun. With a considerable number of laps at the Circuito de Jerez – Angel Nieto under their belts this year, thanks to two Moto2 tests and a Grand Prix already in 2020, this weekend provides another opportunity to analyse the data and act upon the learnings. Xavi made steady progress up the timesheets throughout last weekend’s Spanish GP, climbing ten spots between FP1 and qualifying, whilst Jake also made up seven places as he continues to make the adjustment to the Kalex chassis used by PETRONAS Sprinta Racing in Moto2. In a season where – even more than usual owing to its compressed nature – consistency and stamina will be key, this weekend is a timely opportunity to continue the good progress the pair have made upon returning from the enforced 126-day break between rounds one and two. The first Moto2 session of the weekend will get underway at 1055 CEST/1655 MYT on Friday, with Saturday’s qualifying running from 1510 CEST/2110 MYT and Sunday’s 23-lap race starting at 1220 CEST/1820 MYT. Xavi Vierge Between the races I’ve been working hard spending a few hours every morning in the garage with my technicians, analysing all the data from the weekend and also the pre-season tests here to find where the problem was last weekend and how to solve for this coming race. I’m really looking forward to this second race at Jerez because in the pre-season test here we were so fast and I know that we can make a step forward and fight during the weekend for a top position. It’s so beneficial having two races in the same circuit – last weekend we were struggling a bit so if we can make a step forward and find a solution to fight for the top, like in the pre-season test, it will be so good and important for our mentality at the start of an intense season. We know where the weak points are and we are working hard to find the best solution. I struggled with the hot conditions – if everything’s not on point it’s so hard to get a good rhythm so we are focused on that. We have two or three things to try and decide on the best option for the weekend so that we can take another step and fight where we want to be.
