Another big opportunity for Norrodin at Phillip Island

PETRONAS Sprinta Racing’s Adam Norrodin heads to Australia’s Phillip Island as the next test in his Moto2 World Championship season as he continues to stand-in for fellow Malaysian racer Khairul Idham Pawi.

Norrodin’s outing at the Australian Motorcycle Grand Prix will be his fourth visit to the fast-paced Phillip Island track and comes off the back of his best-ever result in Moto2, after taking 22nd at Motegi.

Last weekend’s Grand Prix of Japan – the first of the season triple-header – gave Adam his first taste of riding the Triumph-powered Kalex Moto2 machine in wet conditions, but Phillip Island could provide an altogether different weather challenge with difficult winds as well as rain a frequent visitor to the clifftop track.

This will be Adam’s fifth GP for the PETRONAS Sprinta Racing squad in Moto2, with Adam using the late-season call-up as a development opportunity while also deputising during KIP’s recuperation.

Moto2 track action at the Australian GP gets underway on Friday 25th October at 0955 local time (0655 Malaysian time), ahead of race day on Sunday 27th October.

“My progress in Japan was all the more satisfying as it was a tricky weekend with a wet track on Saturday. It’s still very much a learning process for me in Moto2, but I’m feeling more confident with every session. I’m hoping for more progress in Australia; I don’t know why I like Phillip Island so much but it’s somewhere where I’ve always finished in the points in three years of racing there in Moto3. It seems to bring me some luck! With that sort of confidence and if we can keep working the way we have been in recent rounds, then we can make the gap to the leaders smaller again this weekend. Racing in Asia and Australia means I'm not too far from home in Malaysia, so I’m maybe not suffering as much with the travel as some of my competitors either, so maybe that’ll help me out too!”
