Comeback and first points of the season for Khairul Idham Pawi

Khairul Idham Pawi claimed his first 3 points of the Moto2 World Championship season at the Argentina GP, finishing 13th. The PETRONAS Sprinta Racing rider showed a solid race pace in the second part of the contest, which allowed him to move up the order.

The Malaysian rider, who started from the ninth row after placing 25th in yesterday's qualifying session, demonstrated the progress he had made over the weekend with a positive showing. After maintaining his position at the start, he was able to gain places and reach 17th on Lap 11.

With a clean track ahead, Khairul Idham Pawi was able to ride consistently until reaching the group that rounded off the point-scoring positions. On the final laps, the PETRONAS Sprinta Racing rider was able to overtake several rivals to cross the line 13th, getting his first three points of the season.

With this result, Khairul Idham Pawi is 18th in the Moto2 World Championship standings. The next event for the series will be held at the Circuit of the Americas in Austin, Texas, from April 12-14th.

"We are very pleased with the progression we have made since we started this project with Khairul Idham Pawi. He had a very difficult season last year and he is getting faster and faster. From Friday he had a good pace, but in the afternoon he suffered a crash and lost some confidence, which also affected his qualifying. In the race he didn't make a good start, but he did make a great comeback. He had a very good pace and overtook many riders. KIP finished thirteenth, fulfilling our goal of finishing in the points. Now we just need to improve his qualifying, as he showed once again today that he is a great rider on race day. It's only a matter of time before he reaches the Top 10."

"I'm very happy with the bike and especially with the team, since we worked a lot ahead of this race and the feeling was very good. I made some mistakes, but the tyre was wearing out very fast and I was trying to manage the situation. The positive thing is that I improved with every lap and was trying to reduce the gap to the frontrunners. We have achieved our first points of the season, so I am very satisfied. I want to thank the team who have worked very hard during the weekend. Now we just have to improve some small things in order to be better in the races."
