Spanish team manage just seventeen laps for Nico Terol and María Herrera on a day marred by bad weather conditions
British rider Bradley Smith ended the second of three days of testing for the inaugural FIM Enel MotoE World Cup preseason with the best lap of the day (1’50.265), overhauling yesterday’s pacesetter Niki Tuuli despite the bad weather that made life difficult for the teams at the Circuito de Jerez – Ángel Nieto. Frenchman Mike di Meglio and Italy’s Mattia Casadei made up the top four, who were the only riders to lap in the 1’50s.

The Ángel Nieto Team continued their adaptation to the new FIM Enel MotoE World Cup category on the second of three days’ testing at Circuito de Jerez – Ángel Nieto. Nico Terol completed a total of fifteen laps during the day’s three sessions, improving his best lap time from yesterday by three tenths. The experienced Spaniard suffered some engine braking issues and when he solved it with his team for the second session the track conditions were completely different because of the rain. María Herrera banked a couple more laps on her new bike for 2019 in the final session of the day but the wet conditions prevented her from making any improvements, with her programme now pushed back to tomorrow’s final day of testing for the Ángel Nieto Team before the winter break.

12+1 Nico Terol 1:53.834 (15 laps): “I still don’t know this bike and haven’t been able to get the best out of it yet, because in the first session we had some issues with the engine braking system and I couldn’t ride well, plus there were still some puddles on the track. The second session was wet and we went out with a dry set-up. I rode around to get a feeling but on my last lap the rear wheel locked and I ran on. I’m not sure what happened but we still have some time to test tomorrow.”

15th María Herrera 2:16.415 (2 laps): “We still don’t know the bike as well as I would like, because the final session was not completely wet or dry, but we will keep working tomorrow.”
