Spanish MotoGP team arrive in UK with Álvaro Bautista on form after six straight top ten finishes

MotoGP World Championship leader Marc Márquez arrives at the British Grand Prix this weekend having conceded victory at the last two rounds in Brno and Austria but with his points lead extended from 46 to 59. The Spaniard finished third to a Ducati double in the Czech Republic but managed to break up the Italian machines in Austria, finishing second to Jorge Lorenzo. However, he remains 71 and 72 points ahead of Lorenzo and Andrea Dovizioso in the championship, leaving them to what looks like a battle for the runner-up spot with Valentino Rossi.

The Ángel Nieto Team travel to Silverstone with Álvaro Bautista in good form. The Spaniard has been a consistent presence in the top ten since his ninth-place finish in the Italian Grand Prix six races ago. Bautista also has the extra motivation of maintaining his record of progressing to Q2 and giving himself a chance of fighting at the front. His teammate Karel Abraham is looking forward to Silverstone after crossing the line in 21st position in Austria. The Czech rider is confident he can produce a performance this weekend that can take him back into the points-scoring positions.

Álvaro Bautista: “Silverstone is one of the longest tracks on the calendar. It is good fun on a MotoGP bike because it is wide and fast and it has a lot of direction changes but you have to keep an eye on the weather and make the most of every practice session because you never know what the conditions might be like in the next one. After the last two races I think we are in good form and the first objective will be to qualify for Q2 again, having done so for the last few weekends. In the race we want to be back in the fight for the top ten and as close as possible to the front. I am very motivated and looking forward to fighting at the front.”

Karel Abraham: “I am looking forward to racing again and to the British Grand Prix this weekend. We go there on the back of a difficult race in Austria but this is one of my favourite circuits on the calendar. I hope we can make a good performance this weekend and get back into the fight for the points at one of the longest circuits in the championship.”
