Monster Energy Pro Circuit Kawasaki Sets Sights on Victory at Iconic RedBud National2018-07-06 07:57It wouldn’t be Fourth of July tradition without the annual trip to the legendary RedBud National, and Monster Energy Pro Circuit Kawasaki’s Austin Forkner and Joey Savatgy have their sights set on claiming victory as the Pro Motocross Championship officially enters the second half of the season this weekend in Buchanan, Michigan. Rookie Garrett Marchbanks makes his return from injury for his first ride at historic Red Bud. Austin Forkner #35 Forkner was the man to beat last weekend in Southwick, earning the team’s first moto victory of the season. An unfortunate racing incident in Moto 2 prevented him from capturing the overall win, but you can be sure he’ll be out for redemption when the gate drops on Saturday afternoon. “We’ve all been working incredibly hard this year so it felt really good to get that first moto win for me and the team last weekend,” said Forkner. “With a little bit of momentum behind us, I’ll be focusing on linking together two solid motos and getting the overall victory in front of the energetic RedBud fans.” Savatgy will also head to the line in Michigan with a bit more confidence having earned his second-best moto finish - fifth in Moto 2 - in the Southwick sand. He has stood on the RedBud podium before so he’ll be looking to get back on the box when the checkered flag flies. “We were able to take away some positive things from last weekend that we’ll be building upon on Saturday,” said Savatgy. “I’ve had some success [at RedBud] before, and with a couple of good starts I know I can be running and finishing at the front of the pack.” Returning after sitting out two rounds, Garrett Marchbanks is happy to be back and taking on the famed RedBud circuit. Rested and back to normal, Marchbanks doesn’t have any specific goals at Red Bud other than to get two more motos under his belt during his rookie season. “It’s been so hard to sit on the sidelines and not race,” said Marchbanks. “When we found out the injury wasn’t that bad, all I wanted to do was line up again but we had to take it slow and make sure I didn’t come back too early. I’m so excited to return at RedBud because I’ve heard the fans are next level. I’m really looking forward to it.” While he won’t be racing alongside his teammates this weekend, Adam Cianciarulo will be in attendance as a guest commentator, so keep an eye on the TV broadcasts and all over social media where the likable Floridian will bring some unique perspective to the RedBud festivities.
