Junior Talent Team aiming high in Round 4

After another podium to add to the tally last time out at Le Mans, the Junior Talent Team are once again aiming high in Round 4 as the FIM CEV Repsol heads back into Spain to the classic Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya. There were some tougher races earlier in the season, but Ai Ogura now has a chance to make it a hat-trick of podiums after getting on the rostrum twice in a row – and the Japanese rider is catching up in the standings.

His teammates will be hot on the chase though and Yuki Kunii leads the way in the Championship for the Junior Talent Team, well inside the upper echelons in fourth despite not getting on the podium so far this season, having shown some top consistency. Kunii is, however, fresh from a win in the Red Bull MotoGP Rookies Cup at Mugello and his confidence will be high. The Junior Talent Team didn’t have a show-stopping weekend in Barcelona last year, so 2018 is a chance to turn that around – with both Ogura and Kunii as well as Somkiat Chantra, who’s fifth in the standings. The Thai rider has been knocking on the door to glory a few times this season as he makes big progress in his second year...is his time coming in Barcelona?

Gerry Salim, meanwhile, is again focused on track time and experience. The Indonesian will also be aiming for his first points of the season, having missed out so far in 2018. And for British Talent Team rider Tom Booth-Amos it’s another different story, with injury having affected the Brit for most of the season so far despite a stunning start in Estoril. After surgery and more scans on his wrists, he’s sadly unfit to race this weekend – but will be back on track as soon as possible.
