Three Monster Energy Pro Circuit Kawasaki Riders in the Top 10 at High Point Raceway2017-06-19 08:33Monster Energy Pro Circuit Kawasaki riders filled out the top 10 at High Point Raceway where they endured a constantly changing track after rain drenched the area on Friday night. Austin Forkner led the way for the team with a 6-6 result for sixth overall, while last round’s winner Joey Savatgy overcame some mistakes to claim seventh overall with an 8-7 moto result. Adam Cianciarulo also made it into the top 10 with his 5-13 moto score placing him 9th overall. Justin Hill finished the day in 19th with a 35-17 result. The circuit at High Point Raceway proved extremely challenging as the conditions of the track changed all day from muddy in practice to extremely hard rutted in the hot baking sun. Forkner did well to place himself in the mix with two good starts. The opening moto would see him come from a ninth-place start to work his way to sixth, while his fourth place start put him with the front runners early in Moto 2. He got up to third at one point but after catching his ankle on a rut, lost some momentum and ended up finishing the moto in sixth. He would claim sixth overall with his 6-6. “Overall it wasn’t a bad day,” said Forkner. “I want to be up on the box, but with a track that was gnarly like that, it was better to be safe than sorry. I felt my starts were good and I just have to take it easy to make sure my ankle gets better.” Forkner It was an up and down day for Savatgy, who started the day as the fastest qualifier in the morning. His opening moto start placed him fifth as they came around on Lap 1. On Lap 7 he made a mistake, pushing him back to 18th, but still managed to put in a charge and finish eighth in Moto 1. In the second moto, Savatgy grabbed another good start in seventh and maintained that position until the checkered flag flew. The 8-7 moto score placed him just behind his teammate in seventh. “It was tough to get into a flow with the way the track was so I focused on being consistent every lap,” said Savatgy. “We still came out with a decent finish, but I really wish we could have been back up on the podium. It’s definitely motivation for the next race to push harder and try to make it up on the box.” Joey Savatgy The start of the day looked very promising for Cianciarulo who qualified second. He took that speed into the opening moto were he started seventh and eventually made his way up to fifth. In Moto 2, Cianciarulo overcame a tough start in 21st, getting past many riders to end the race in 13th. Because of his good score in Moto 1, his 5-13 kept him in the top 10 in ninth. “It was a tough day because I felt so good in practice and the first moto,” said Cianciarulo. “The track was really tough and it took a lot of energy to get going after that first lap in Moto 2. We’ll regroup and keep our focus on making it up to the podium each race.” Hill continued to prove his motocross skills in Pennsylvania, though his scores tell a different story. He started just outside the top-10 in Moto 1 and was working his way up. Just before halfway he was forced to retire early, scoring him 35th. The second moto he started 14th, but a few mistakes towards the end of the race pushed him back to 17th, giving him 19th overall. “Today was a day I will put in the past and we’ll keep looking forward,” said Hill. “I feel good and know I can run in the top 10.
