JEREZ TEST - DAY ONE

Returning to Europe for the first time this year, the SIC Racing Team got straight down to business working hard to help riders Adam Norrodin and Ayumu Sasaki reacquaint themselves with the Spanish circuit.

With conditions somewhat cooler than at the team’s previous test in Malaysia, Norrodin and Sasaki took full advantage of the allotted 3 hours and 35 minutes on-track, completing three productive sessions.

Making a solid first impression, newcomer to the team Ayumu Sasaki concluded day one in the top ten achieving an impressive 8th place during the final outing. The Moto3 rookie made good progress throughout the day, steadily and consistently chipping away at his lap time.

Adam Norrodin experienced a slightly harder start to proceedings as he struggled to find his rhythm around the 4.4km track. Focussing his attentions on adjusting settings on the #7 Honda initially hindered the young Malaysians lap times but successful completing his workload, Norrodin is confident he can improve his pace tomorrow.

“We’ve had great conditions today here in Jerez. It’s the first time this year for us in Europe and coming from Sepang to Jerez is always a challenge but we’ve made a positive start.
Ayumu did a good job for his first day and we’re happy with his lap times. He finished 12th overall in the combined times and was the top rookie. Tomorrow we must continue going in the same direction. He’s not 100% happy with the bike, so there are still some things for us to work on and we’re going to try something with the suspension tomorrow too, which should hopefully help.
On Adam’s side it’s been harder for him to adapt to the fast track here, so I think he just needs to ride more and find his rhythm. We're also going to try new suspension parts with Adam tomorrow so I hope that can help him to get up to better speed.
It’s only the first day and all of the other teams have been to Jerez already this year, so overall we have done well and I’m confident we can continue to improve over the next couple of days.”

#7 ADAM NORRODIN

“What we did in Sepang was really good but unfortunately for me it didn’t work here at Jerez, so we had to start over with our set up. The team worked really hard and the bike became better and better. There are still a couple of things we need to work on with the front tomorrow but I feel a lot better on the bike now; I really need to just concentrate on my riding. It will be good to start tomorrow with a fresh head and push hard from the start.”
#71 AYUMU SASAKI

“We worked on many things today and adjusted our settings very well; in the end we found a good set up and were able to set a good lap time. For sure it’s not perfect but we still have two more days so we can continue to improve the bike. Tomorrow we will have knew forks as well, so it will be good to test that too. We finished 12th overall today, which is okay but I would like to do better tomorrow and go faster again.”
