Chip Ellis/Junior Pippin Racing team report: Chip Ellis Runs High MPH at Etown2016-06-11 07:11Chip Ellis ran high MPH on day 1 of Pro Stock Motorcycle qualifying for the NHRA Summernationals at Old Bridge Township Raceway Park in Englishtown, New Jersey. Ellis rode Junior Pippin’s PiranaZ Buell to a 6.824 at a blistering 198.38 mph trap speed on a weekend that provisional number 1 qualifier Eddie Krawiec thinks will set a new record for fastest PSM field ever. Ellis’ best pass came in Q1, and the veteran racer thinks he left something on the table in round 2’s better conditions. “We missed a little on the clutch tune-up,” said Chip, whose 60-foot time fell from a 1.07 to a 1.10. He currently sits 6th in the qualifying order. Ellis, engine builder/tuner Lon Moyer and the Junior Pippin Trucking team will get two more shots at number 1 today starting at 1:45 pm. If you can’t be at the track, watch Chip and the team qualify on Fox Sports 1 at 1:00 am Eastern time on Sunday morning June 12, followed by eliminations at 4:30 pm.
