Race Results for EMX125 and 250 from Latvia

European Motocross Championship action resumed over the weekend in Latvia on the shifting sands at Kegums, north of Riga, and Maxime Renaux finished 5th in EMX250, marking a recovery from a broken finger earlier in the season to take his YZ250F 5-4 in the motos as the youngest rider in the Top-5.



Renaux started quickly in both motos after a good qualifying time on Saturday, but slipped back several positions on Sunday after struggling with the light sand on top of a hard surface in Latvia. The French teenager had quick lap times in front of a large field and held up well as track conditions wore down over 14 laps.

"It was difficult for me in Latvia because I made two mistakes in the race and had to work hard to come back. But for me the season starts now. It's good to be the top young rider, but against the older guys I am racing their experience and their physical size, so it's very important to take a good start, stay on the bike and concentrate," Renaux said.

DP19 Yamaha Racing Team rider Morgan Lesiardo struggled on the tricky Kegums circuit and finished out of the Top-20.

Renaux next races in Germany at Teutschenthal.
