Monster Energy Kawasaki Rider Eli Tomac Captures his Eighth Top-Five Finish of the Year

Eli Tomac was joined by Josh Grant as the Monster Energy® Kawasaki team entered Round 11 of the Monster Energy AMA Supercross, an FIM Championship, held in the “Motor City” of Detroit. Tomac started off the night with a second place finish in Heat 1, while Grant had the opportunity to turn a few extra laps, qualifying out of Semi 1. After the gate drop of the Main Event, Tomac and Grant started off mid-pack and immediately began moving forward. Consistent laps and smooth lines allowed Tomac to race his way into fifth place at the finish. While working towards the front, Grant was involved in a mid-air collision with another rider. Fortunately Grant was able to remount his KX™450F and continue moving forward, eventually crossing the line in 12th.



"Today started off really well with two great qualifying sessions," said Tomac. "I went on to finish second in my heat and felt confident heading into the Main Event. In the Main Event, I started mid-pack and made some early passes to get into the top five. Overall, Detroit went well and I'm happy with where we ended."
“My day went really well,” said Grant. “I qualified well and put myself in a good position for the heat. I made a little mistake, ended up going into the Semi and qualified into the Main Event from there. I didn’t have the start I wanted but was able to make some good passes and I’m happy with how it ended up. My goal was to finish strong and have a successful day, unfortunately another rider took me down, but all things considered I feel I accomplished my goal. I’m looking forward to spending time on the bike with the team, through the weekend off and coming back strong for Santa Clara.”

Monster Energy/Pro Circuit/Kawasaki riders Tyler Bowers & Arnaud Tonus continue to improve every weekend. Both riders qualified out of Heat 1 as Bowers took a commanding win with teammate Tonus close behind. When the gate dropped at the start of the 250 Main Event, it was Tonus who rounded Turn 1 out front on his KX™250F. The rider out of Switzerland would lead the field for five strong laps until a mistake in the whoops on Lap 6 resulted in a DNF. Bowers, who was taken down by another rider in Turn 1, began carving through the competition on his Kawasaki and by Lap 9 had passed 17 competitors. At the checkered flag, Bowers rode to an incredible fourth place finish, a season best.


“My day in Detroit was pretty good,” said Bowers. “My Monster Energy/Pro Circuit/Kawasaki worked really well straight off, allowing me to set quick times early on in the sessions and qualify in a great spot. I won my second Heat Race this year, which is another step forward for me. Unfortunately I was tied up with another rider in Turn 1, but was able to charge through, ride my race and keep on my lines. Next thing I knew I was in fourth and could see third right ahead of me. I’m really happy with my fourth place finish and I’m looking forward to coming back from the break!”
