Championships on the Line at EnduroCross Finale2014-11-18 19:42Factory Beta/Stillwell Performance-backed Cody Webb is on track to take the 2014 GEICO AMA EnduroCross Championship this coming Saturday in Ontario, California. He holds a 13 point lead over Rockstar/Lucas Oil/JCR Honda’s Colton Haaker and a 15 point cushion on Factory Red Bull KTM’s Taddy Blazusiak, the five time and defending champion. But EnduroCross is very unpredictable so the title is still on the line. If Haaker has a perfect night and collects the bonus points from winning his heat race and setting the fast time during the hot laps, Webb can still clinch the title with a seventh place finish. For Blazusiak to take a sixth EnduroCross Championship on Saturday, he would need to score maximum points and have Webb finish ninth or worse. Webb’s worst finish this season is a third and that is the reason he has the upper hand coming into the finale. You can be sure that riders like Taylor Robert, Mike Brown, Geoff Aaron, Max Gerston, Bobby Prochnau, Kyle Redmond, Cory Graffunder and more of the world’s best off-road racers will be fighting for the top positions so Webb will have plenty of obstacles to taking the number 1 plate. For the women’s class, there are more possible scenarios. RPM KTM’s Chantelle Bykerk is the defending women’s champion and she currently holds a 5 point lead over Mongan Tanke. Rachel Gutish and Lexi Pechout are only 11 and 12 points back respectively. So any of these four riders have a real shot at taking home the championship on Saturday. In addition to the Women’s and Men’s titles being on the line, there are AMA EnduroCross Grand Championships (EXGC) on the line for the Open Amateur, Vet 35+ and TrialsCross classes. Unlike the pro classes, riders earn a spot in the EXGC by winning the respective support classes at the previous regional events or they can qualify for remaining open spots at this weekend’s Ontario finals. The final round of GEICO AMA EnduroCross will take over Ontario, California’s Citizen’s Business Bank Arena for an exciting weekend of EnduroCross action November 21st - 22nd. See the schedule below for all the details and to get tickets to the final round of 2014. Friday, November 21st EnduroCross racers can participate in the ever-popular Rookies Class on Friday afternoon. These one-hour, on-track instructional sessions, hosted by EnduroCross racing veteran and DA8 Training front man Destry Abbott, will take racers through a private EnduroCross training session. Abbott, along with guest instructors from the EX Pro class, will provide insight into the challenging obstacles and possibly give away some of their proven racing techniques to attendees. The EnduroCross Rookies class is now open to any Amateur, Vet, Women’s or TrialsCross class riders who have not made a main event as well as first-time racers. Rookies Class participants will meet at Abbott’s DA8 Training pit area at 3:00 PM Also on Friday, EnduroCross promoters will be hosting an un-timed evening practice session for all riders attempting to qualify starting at 5:00 PM. Saturday, November 22nd The GEICO AMA EnduroCross Finals schedule gets rolling Saturday morning with a full slate of timed practice sessions, Qualifiers and Last Chance Qualifiers. All classes (Amateur, Trialscross, Vet, EX Pro and Women) will be on the track trying to set fast times and secure a spot into the night show.
