Mid-Week Under the Tent with Monster Energy Kawasaki Team Green at Loretta’s2014-07-30 22:18The 33rd running of the Amateur National Motocross Championship at Loretta Lynn’s is under way from the Dude Ranch in Hurricane Mills, Tennessee. Monster Energy Kawasaki Team Green and “Greenville” are leading the way both on and off the track as they have for all 33 years of the event. The first set of three motos got underway Tuesday and Kawasaki racked up eight moto wins plus an additional 11 moto podium finishes. New to Team Green for this year, Mitchell Harrison started off the week on the right track. Harrison grabbed the holeshot in both his classes and went on to take moto wins in Schoolboy 2 and 250 B on his KX™250F. The Super Mini classes are always stacked and this year is no different. The first Super Mini 1 moto saw Sean Cantrell, Austin Forkner, Tanner Stack and Joey Crown all up front battling for the entire 20-minute moto aboard their KX™100s. After each of them sharing sometime in the lead, it was Cantrell who took the lead within the final few turns to take the victory with Stack in third and Forkner in fourth. Garrett Marchbanks is in control of the Mini Sr classes on his Team Green KX™85. He was able to take control of both motos early and cruised to take the win in Mini Sr. 1 and Mini Sr. 2. Lance Kobusch was questionable to race this week after suffering a crash in practice on Monday that required him to get stitches to repair a deep gash in his arm. All had counted him out until he lined up in the first Mini Sr. 2 moto and grabbed the holeshot. Kobusch went on to finish on the podium in third place. Team Green has a long-standing history at Loretta Lynn’s and the traditions continued on Monday evening. All 16 competing members join under the Monster Energy Kawasaki tent for dinner and the Team Green riders meeting to set the tone for the week. Like every year, the riders were congratulated for making it to the most prestigious race of the year and also given a pep talk and reminded that they are the ones to beat.
