The Rally & Race of Heroes, benefit for CFI, Results and Gratitude2014-07-26 10:13Cycle Ranch MX Park, of Floresville, TX took up the challenge of creating a daylong event, June 21st, to benefit The Center for The Intrepid (CFI). Cycle Ranch, with donations and support from vendors, raised over $6,750 by way of The Rally & Race of Heroes. There are several entities that made this day come to fruition which we would like to recognize. Red McCombs Toyota and The Military Appreciation Department led by Charles Bunch were eager to partner with Cycle Ranch and serve the veteran community. We are appreciative of their partnership for this event and are confident this is only the beginning of a strong relationship with Red McCombs Toyota. Silver Eagle Distributions, Red Bull and Budweiser also came out in full support painting our dog houses with the classic Red Bull logo, pitched a Red Bull canopy, and spruced up our MotoLicious Café with a large Budweiser neon. The great vendors and demonstrations on the day of the event made the rally what it was. One of the quite popular attractions were rides on the Zoom, an electric, 4 wheel drive, all-terrain vehicle, by Zoomability which provides people with lower extremity and mobility concerns. Thank you to Peter Holmertz and Eric Horton for bringing the Zoom to Cycle Ranch! A grand thank you also to Nicholas Juarez of Master Juarez, Bushikan, Martial Arts, who along with his students, spent the day demonstrating the skill of martial arts. We’d also like to thank The Texas Department of Public Safety whom also came out and provided our Rally’ers with interesting information and the chance to speak one on one Q&A with a Texas State Trooper. Harold Glissen of 'Only One Inspiration,' and Adaptive MX riders, such as Doug Henry and Mike Schultz also spent the weekend here and delivered an affecting motivational speech to the crowd Friday night, setting the "never give up" tone of the weekend. The Adaptive riders raced in the Apaptive Class during The Rally & Race of Heroes and left the crowd in awe by their amazing ability to not only ride, but by far, excel as a rider, regardless of the hurdles put in their path. A special thank you to all the adaptive riders from all of the Cycle Ranch Team. Both people and animals teamed up for The Rally & Race of Heroes. Oasis Acres Equine Assisted Therapy Center spread their message of social change and created a safe, comfortable, environment for Rally'ers to paint and bond with their horses. The horses were a delight to have at Cycle Ranch and provided a great calm getaway from the excitement of the day. Thank you to Oasis Acres Equine Assisted Therapy Center! One of the many great components of The Rally & Race of Heroes was the silent auction. We were overwhelmed with the amount of support and donations by such a variety of industries and people who wanted to support CFI. Each silent auction item was won by the highest bidder with 100% of the proceeds benefitting CFI. The following entities graciously donated their items or services to The Rally & Race of Heroes. Last but not least, we would like to thank every volunteer, every participant, every rider, and every guest who came out to Cycle Ranch with the goal of spending the day to benefit CFI and raise funds for those who have dedicated their lives to our military. The ability to give back to those who have sacrificed is wonderful and we hope that this is only planting the seed to what is to come for The Rally & Race of Heroes. We are proud to present The Center For The Intrepid with a $6,750 check on behalf of The Rally & Race of Heroes. This is only the beginning of what Cycle Ranch would like to do for our community and veterans. Source: realMotocross Click here to visit our forums to discuss this story |
