Round 8 Portimao: EVO And Superstock Saturday2014-07-05 22:00Success was an integral part of the qualifying and race results for Kawasaki riders in the Evo SBK and Superstock classes, including a win in the Superstock 600 class and pole in the Superstock 1000 category. SBK Evo Kawasaki Riders David Salom (KRT SBK Evo) was the best Kawasaki Evo qualifier at the Portimao race, making it through to Superpole 2 and finishing up 12th on the grid. Sheridan Morais (Iron Brain Kawasaki SBK Team) proved he was on top form at Portimao in qualifying by taking 16th place, immediately followed by mid-season addition to the class Bryan Staring (Iron Brain Kawasaki SBK Team) and series regular Alessandro Andreozzi (Kawasaki Team Pedercini). Luca Scassa (Kawasaki Team Pedercini) attempted to return to action at Portimao but was declared unfit and he was replaced at the last minute by Riccardo Russo, who finished 21st on the grid. Jeremy Guarnoni (MRS Kawasaki) was 22nd and the final qualifier for Kawasaki proved to be Fabien Foret (Kawasaki Mahi Racing Team India) in 23rd place. Superstock 1000 FIM Cup - Qualifying Lorenzo Savadori (Kawasaki Team Pedercini) was once more the best pre-race rider for Kawasaki in the Superstock division, topping off the qualifying on pole while David McFadden (MRS Kawasaki) placed himself fifth and Romain Lanusse (Team Pedercini Kawasaki) went sixth. Kevin Valk (MTM Racing Kawasaki) took the last place in the top eight, and just outside the top ten, by one place, was Matthieu Lussiana (Kawasaki Team Garnier by Aspi). The 14-lap Superstock 1000 race will take place after the SBK and WSS events on Sunday afternoon. Superstock 600 European Championship - Race Marco Faccani (Kawasaki San Carlo team Italia) continued his great run of form in the 600 Superstock championship on his class leading Ninja ZX-6R, winning the 12-lap race by a clear 4.029 seconds and taking a 34 point lead in the series with only two races left. Andrea Tucci, Faccani’s team-mate remains fourth overall after finishing sixth at Portimao and Ilya Mikhalchik (Team Go Eleven Kawasaki) was fourth in the Portuguese race.
