Monster Energy Kawasaki Team Green Continues KX Success at Daytona

Following a night of near perfection in the AMA pro ranks, Monster Energy Kawasaki Team Green™ continued to keep KX™ on top of the podium at the Monster Energy Ricky Carmichael Amateur Supercross at Daytona. In all Team Green riders captured seven championships at the event including titles in competitive classes like 250 All Star A/B and Supermini.

“I’m really proud of how everyone performed this week,” said Team Green Supervisor Ryan Holliday. “This event is important to Team Green and for us to come in and have the success we did, says a lot about our bikes and our riders. Every KX model took home a championship in Daytona and that is something we are all excited to see.”



Young Guns

It was the young riders who started the day off right for Team Green as Stilez Robertson led wire-to-wire on his KX™85 to grab the 85cc (9-11) championship. Robertson also led every lap of his heat race putting on a dominating performance over the two-day event. Jett Reynolds also looked impressive grabbing the 65cc (7-9) class championship. Austin Forkner dominated over the two days putting his KX™100 on top in the Supermini class. Also in Supermini, Team Green riders Joey Crown and Tanner Stack finished third and fifth respectively. In the 250 All Star A/B race, Zac Commans put on a show as he rode his KX™250F to the title.



Seasoned Vets

It wasn’t just the young riders who added to their trophy collection at Daytona, as Chad Murphy took home the championship in the Vet B/C (35+) class and Janio Rezende did the same in the Senior B/C (40+) class. Team Green legend Earl May was also racing in the Florida sunshine as he battled to the title in the Masters (50+) class.



Beating the Heat

Kawasaki shined in the supercross style format as green bikes claimed the most heat race wins of any manufacturer. In all, KX captured 13 heat race wins. Team Green’s Nick Gaines was also arguably the fastest A rider on the track, winning two of his heat races but a crash in the 250 A Pro Sports main sidelined him for the rest of the event.



World’s Center of Racing

The Monster Energy Ricky Carmichael Amateur Supercross at Daytona is a unique event for amateur riders that get to race at one of the most historic venues in all of motorsports. The event is formatted similar to a pro supercross with each class having a heat race to qualify for the main event and the longer main event to decide the champion. The riders competed on a track very close to the same one the pros raced Saturday night where Kawasaki’s Ryan Villopoto and Blake Baggett both rode to dominating wins.



Texas Bound

After a successful weekend in Daytona, Team Green heads to Texas for back to back amateur nationals. First stop is the International GNC Motocross Final at Oak Hill Raceway in Decatur followed by the Freestone Spring Championship in Wortham, Texas. Racing starts at Oak Hill on Thursday, March 13th.
